Melissa Kaye is an MIT grad with a background in engineering and computer science. Unexpected for a jewelry designer, yes, but take one look at her eponymous jewelry collection and the technical foundation makes complete sense. That said, Melissa has a clear playful side, too. Her work explores unconventional forms and she punctuates her signature diamond-adorned 18-karat gold with pops of candy-like enamel. The resulting pieces are striking, instantly recognizable, and very elegant.
