Do You Om Here Often? The Best Social Wellness Clubs from Coast to Coast

An IV therapy lounge might not sound like the ideal setting for a meet-cute. But I recently watched a pair of ultra-fit millennials flirt nonstop for 20 minutes while their bloodstreams absorbed a cocktail of vitamin B12 and magnesium at the Proper Hotel’s private wellness club in Santa Monica. At the end of the session, the two exchanged numbers, shared an extended hug, and vowed to meet for a “cold plunge.”

They’re not the only ones pursuing a “healthy relationship.” While bars may have previously been considered the spot to meet someone new, research from McKinsey & Company suggests Gen Z and millennials are seeking friends in alternative third places like gyms and fitness classes. “Meaningful connection shouldn’t have to happen over alcohol, so it’s been incredible to watch date reservations hit an all-time high,” says Jonathan Leary, DC, CEO and founder of the social wellness club Remedy Place, which now has four U.S. locations. “What you want when you're trying to explore a new connection or deepen an existing one is a dopamine spike and an endorphin rush.”

That’s exactly what a new breed of private social clubs are promoting in this age of tech overload and isolation: IRL social connection, along with state-of-the-art wellness activations and treatments. Whether members are open to romantic relationships or seeking new friendships, these clubs offer a space to gather and mingle, all in a health-supporting environment. Matchas are the new martinis in this curated list of our favorite new social wellness clubs across the country.

LOS ANGELES

HUME

Just steps from the Pacific Ocean in Venice, the 15,000-square-foot Hume feels like an organic extension of the beach, with its burnt-umber interiors and custom gym equipment and accessories in earthy hues. Along with a Pilates studio, infrared sauna, and cold plunge baths, there’s a rooftop garden café with panoramic views. You can even spot the Hollywood Sign on a clear day.

Monthly membership runs $450, with a $500 initiation fee.

PROPER WELLNESS

Tucked within the lush, Kelly Wearstler-designed Proper Hotel, this members-only wellness club offers unlimited gym use, sound baths, educational panels on longevity, and access to a “recovery suite” with a dry sauna, cold plunge, and the rejuvenating infrared and oxygen therapy Ammortal Chamber. You can book an IV therapy session through their partnership with Drip Hydration and enroll in “Proper Hundred,” an app that uses 160 lab tests to evaluate your internal health and suggest protocols to boost your well-being. Plus, members can enjoy everything from private concerts to movie premieres.

Memberships begin at $6,500 annually plus a one-time initiation fee of $2,500 for individuals and $1,500 each for couples. Members enjoy discounts for Surya treatments, products, and a complimentary Ayurvedic lunch.

MIAMI–PALM BEACH

GROTTO BATHS

Opening in Miami this summer, Grotto is an 7,500-square-foot wet wonderland of thermal baths, mineral pools, and cold plunges that also features infrared saunas and somatic workshops. (Digital devices are forbidden in bathing areas.) A chic outdoor café serves up restorative juices, alcohol-free adaptogenic cocktails, and healthy seasonal bites.

For a limited time, Grotto is extending an introductory membership deal to goop readers: $225 per month for priority access, unlimited visits, and 10% off day passes for guests.

HIGHER ORDER

Co-founder Ryan Brown says, “No amount of red light is going to fix hours of doomscrolling.” It’s all about human connection at this West Palm Beach private wellness sanctuary, which opened late last year by Brown and his wife. As such, the club offers Zero-proof happy hours, founder meetups, and a book club for social connection. And, on the more traditional wellness side of the equation, they also have breathwork, infrared saunas, intentional movement classes, and functional on-site medicine.

Pricing available upon application; tours and day passes offered.

CHICAGO

BIAN

With a bevy of esteemed physicians, longevity pioneers, and leaders in sports medicine as advisors, this 35,000-square-foot club seamlessly integrates concierge medical care, aesthetic offerings (like injectables), lymphatic massage, gym classes, co-working space, and provocative roundtables with thought leaders. The Michelin star-quality cuisine— including intimate omakase experiences—elevates date nights and social gatherings from everyday meals to special occasions.

Membership runs $4,400 annually, with a one-time $1,000 initiation fee upon joining.

AUSTIN

GEVITY

Conceived as “an ecosystem that transcends a gym and workspace” by married surfer founders Connor and Espoir Michalek, Gevity (short for longevity) opened last December with 18,000 square feet of movement spaces, spa lounges, a recovery suite with infrared sauna and cold plunge, co-working rooms, and communal areas (including a stylish café). Think: cool “third space” culture for active and inquisitive creatives.

Membership starts at $360 per month, with an additional $160 add-on for unlimited access to a red-light therapy bed, private infrared sauna, and Normatec Compression gear.

NEW YORK

MOSS

Taking social interaction and wellness to new heights in a Midtown skyscraper on Fifth Avenue, this brand-new private club spans five floors, with an even split of 40,000 square feet devoted to “physical culture” (including a hammam and pickleball court) and to “intelligent leisure” social spaces like a posh restaurant, a vinyl room for listening parties and a library bar. Founder siblings Colleen and Hailey Brooks worked with the former design director of Soho House to finesse the aesthetics like billiard tables reupholstered in pale pink.

Tiered monthly memberships run from $280 to $745, with initiation fees of $1,500 to $3,950.

BOSTON

REMEDY PLACE

This newest location is the fourth and largest social wellness club (at 10,000 square feet) from Jonathan Leary, DC, who originally founded the concept in 2019 with his Sunset Strip outpost in L.A. You can sweat and socialize over mat Pilates, yoga, infrared saunas, communal steam suites, and the club's signature “Breathwork Ice Bath Class” and “Watch & Drip” (IV therapy movie nights).

Membership rates range from $250 to $999 per month for additional perks, including contrast sessions and tech remedies like hyperbaric chambers and lymphatic compression.
