8 Beauty Launches Our Editors Loved in March

Written by:the Editors of goopPublished on:

Getting to know the new clean beauty products our buyers bring to goop is one of the (very fun) parts of our job as editors. So, we tend to switch up our rotations regularly, slotting in new launches and turning back to longstanding heroes, experimenting to see how things work for us in different seasons, for different needs, in different combinations. Inevitably, some products start to stand out more than others—and each month, we’re excited to share the ones we’re newly obsessed with.

Ahead, our roundup of March’s must-try beauty launches.

1The Outset Total Clarity Dark Spot Serum

If, like me, you are on HRT and living in a warm climate, sun spots are as inevitable as the occasional night sweats when you forget to change your Estradiol patch on time. And this formula—made with a proprietary botanical blend that includes pumpkin enzymes and fruit-based AHAs—helps lighten them without inflaming dry, sensitive skin. It's specifically formulated to be a gentle treatment alternative for people who can't tolerate vitamin C. Scarlett Johansson, who is the founder of The Outset, created it to address the dark spots she herself was experiencing after her pregnancies.

Full disclosure: Though I have sensitive skin, I had been using the goop Beauty Vitamin C serum without incident, but I recently ran out, so I was eager to try this new one from The Outset. And I'm happy to report that after using it consistently twice a day for nearly a month, I've seen a noticeable improvement in my skin texture and hyperpigmentation. Worth noting: I also like the texture; unlike some popular vitamin C formulas I've tried, it's not oily at all and absorbs instantly.

2Tata Harper Crème Supreme

  • On a recent trip to Northern New Hampshire, I made the mistake of passing around my goop beauty NAD+ moisturizer at the hotel where I was killing time with friends before our Airbnb was ready. I never saw it again. Five straight days in 10-degree weather followed, without so much as a lick of hydration. By the time I got back to Southern California a week later, my skin had the texture of epidermal sawdust.

Tata Harper’s new Crème Supreme was exactly what I wanted to come home to. It has a rare kind of cosmetic elegance: rich and silky, it sinks in immediately, leaving skin plump, dewy, and instantly more radiant. I’m also obsessed with the scent, which is fresh, green, and herbaceous—so much so that I’ve developed a slightly unhinged ritual of sniffing my hands and taking three deep breaths before I even put it on my face. Yes, it’s expensive. But unlike plenty of other expensive creams, this one actually feels worth it.

    1Heretic Rhubarb Thief

It is still much colder than I’d like it to be where I live in Connecticut—we’ve had a couple of warm days, but in general it is still winter-coat-gloves-and-hat weather. But there are some hopeful signs: Daffodil stems are pushing up through the ground. The chipmunks have come out of torpor and are scampering busily about. And the other morning, I saw a pregnant rabbit. Well: It was either pregnant or very fat, and given the frigid, snowy winter we’ve had, it the former seems more likely. Which means it is almost baby bunny season. Almost.

But I’m ready to have two feet firmly planted in spring right now, rather than scouring the world for assurance that it’s on its way. Luckily—since it feels like Mother Nature is dragging her feet—I’ve found a shortcut. “Two feet firmly planted in spring” is exactly how I felt the moment I smelled Heretic’s new scent Rhubarb Thief. It opens with bright notes of grapefruit peel, thyme, verbena, and carrot seed, before giving way to the ripe rhubarb and warm pink jasmine layered over a base of elemi and oakmoss. Like all of master perfumer Douglas Little’s scents, it’s complex and surprising—there’s a sweetness to it, but it’s tempered by tart, green, almost sharp notes. And I would be remiss not to mention the packaging: When you open the sleek black box, the dark-green-and-pink bottle is nestled in a thicket of three-dimensional paper-cut rhubarb stalks rendered in dark grey and black, so you feel as if you are plucking the perfume straight from a (very chic, artistic) moonlit garden. On the inside lid is a drawing of a rabbit, so when the box is closed, the thief is directly facing his quarry. It is—like the scent itself—enchanting.

  • 2Nécessaire The Body Wash Olibanum

I’m more of a plain-soap girl than a bodywash girl these days. I’ll buy bodywash—don’t get me wrong. I’m easily seduced by the idea of a bodywash. And then it inevitably just sits unused in my shower as I reach, day after day, for the bar of soap. But recently my skin has been really dry. I dry brush pre-shower. Moisturize diligently. Drink a lot of water. I’m doing all the things, I swear. But still: dry, dry, dry. So, clearly, time to try something different. Enter this bodywash from Nécessaire. It’s made with gentle plant-based surfactants that cleanse without stripping. And it’s infused with hydrating glycerin and niacinamide, along with antioxidant vitamins C and E. The clear gel works into a rich, plush, velvety lather as you massage it over skin, and then it rinses away clean, leaving my skin feeling soft, nourished, and decidedly not dry (yes, I’m still moisturizing and dry brushing and drinking all the water, too). But what really makes it a treat is the scent—it’s a warm, sweet, spicy mix of frankincense, vanilla, fig, and cassis that blossoms beautifully in the steam and makes me want to linger in the shower far longer than I usually would. Not a bad thing!

    1Fara Homidi Essential Eye Compact

In high school and college, there was one mega eye shadow palette that ruled them all—but despite tutorials from friends who were naturally gifted at the smoky eye, I mostly stuck to one or two neutral colors and left the rest untouched. Eye palettes still overwhelm me, which is why I was excited when makeup artist Fara Homidi launched a streamlined three-shade palette with two super wearable neutrals. The No. 61 trio includes a gorgeous pop of sky blue as the third shade (a nod to Homidi’s editorial work and a fun way to brighten the eye) while No. 20 features a soft black for her signature smoky eye. For the past month, I’ve used my fingers to apply Lune, a taupe-y shade, all over the lid for a quick, polished daytime look. And when I want to step it up just a little bit, I’ll try Homidi’s signature blur technique, using the angled part of the Blur Brush to add Rumi (a rich brown) in the outer crease, and the tip of the brush to apply Norae (a soft black) to my lash line for a bit of definition and drama.

What really blew me away, though, was the texture—creamy, velvety, skin-mimicking—making the shadows easy to blend and build. They’re enriched with ingredients that soften the appearance of fine lines and boost hydration. And they’re long-wearing, but rather than being creaseproof, they’re intentionally designed to deliver a sexy, lived-in finish, according to Homidi. (Gwyneth’s makeup artist, Georgie, even used the palette on her for the Oscars).

    2HigherDOSE Red Light Shower Filter

When I finally installed HigherDOSE’s new red light shower in my bathroom, "replace showerhead” had already been on my apartment to-do list for years, admittedly mostly for the beauty benefits. As I learned from dermatologists, chlorine can be drying to skin and hair at certain concentrations, and heavy metals can build up on the scalp and skin. The 10-stage water filtration system, which helps reduce contaminants like chlorine, microplastics, heavy metals, and VOCs, was exactly what I'd been looking for. That it came with a removable red light ring initially seemed somewhat superfluous. But as it turns out, it was the two-in-one upgrade my routine was missing (especially as someone who forgets to use her red light devices as consistently as she should.)

Long term, I'm hopeful for both shinier hair and glowier skin thanks to the combination of contaminant-free water and red light therapy (650 nanometer red lights and 850 nanometer near-infrared lights, to be exact). In the short term, though, I’ve already noticed an immediate payoff: The red light has turned my daily shower into a full-blown self-care ritual. I’ve been setting the timer for 15 minutes and pairing it with the “dark shower” TikTok trend—showering at night with the lights off—to wind down before bed. Yes, it kind of makes my bathroom feel like a night club, which seems counterintuitive, but after a few minutes, I can feel the stress from the day melt away. And according to my Eight sleep results, my sleep has already improved.

    1ILIA Skin Blur Serum Concealer

I’m always on the hunt for a concealer that is full coverage and long-lasting, because no amount of sleep—or matcha lattes—can ever save me from dark under-eye circles. Last month, I met my new obsession: ILIA's new skin blurring serum concealer. It melts right into my Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40, and the self-setting formula means I can skip powder entirely (a true win for low-maintenance days). It stays put all day for 12 hours–no creasing or fading–while somehow still looking like I'm not actually wearing any concealer at all. What really sold me though is how it not only covers, but also treats my under-eyes: sea fennel gives that subtle blurred brightness, while caffeine helps de-puff the evidence of late nights. There are also 34 shades spanning a wide range of warmer to cooler undertones (I'm 8N Chiffon).

    2Saie SuperSuede Radiant Baked Bronzer

I've learned that living in sunny LA doesn’t automatically translate to a sun-kissed glow—especially since I’ve become far more diligent about covering my face with SPF and a baseball cap. Of course, I still want that just-got-back-from-the-beach effect, and Saie’s new talc-free SuperSuede Radiant Baked Bronzer (my shade is Amalfi) has become my shortcut to achieving it.

I’ve been sweeping it on with the double-ended brush across the high points of my face–cheekbones, temples, and a touch across my nose–anywhere the sun would naturally hit. The result is a soft, natural warmth that looks radiant yet perfectly skin-like. Plus, with olive-derived squalane, jojoba esters, and hyaluronic acid, it also feels like skin care. It melts easily into my skin and is easily buildable for those days when I want to look even more sun-kissed than usual.
