Gwyneth’s “Everything Shower”

Written by:Gwyneth PaltrowUpdated on:

I’ve perfected my version of an “everything shower." It’s a little simpler than the ones on social media, and it’s also clean—everything I use is made without a long list of ingredients linked to harmful health effects. To make it extra invigorating, I finish with a minute or so of pure cold water (hairstylists say cold water is great for hair, too).

1I’m obsessed with dry brushing.

I rarely take a shower without starting with a good dry brush—all over, brushing toward the heart. It’s amazing for exfoliation, skin quality, and energy.

  • 2I love shine (so does Brad).

So, so good. Clean hair care is hard to make, but this scalp scrub really delivers shine, softness, and manageability. It has a great pillowy texture—the shampoo itself is so sudsy and luxurious. You can also feel the salt crystals deeply cleansing for a nice, fresh feeling. Brad tried it, and even he gave it a rave review.

    3And I need moisture.

I get incredible shine, bounce, and moisture with this creamy, nourishing hair mask. It feels great in your hair, smells amazing, and rinses easily. I like to use this mask once or twice a week (during my everything shower), and I really notice a difference. When it's wet, it detangles more easily, and when it's dry, it's shinier, softer, and healthier-looking.

  • 4A sultry, genderless body wash.

I’m addicted to this body wash: the lather is so rich and thick, and the scent is gorgeous—a little sweet, a little spicy. It's made with plant-based surfactants, hydrating aloe, and antioxidant-rich green tea extract. It's an indulgent daily ritual that gently cleanses the skin, and it’s especially good after exfoliating with a dry brush. It resets my body and mind.

    5The best body oil.

I think this is Apple’s all-time favorite goop product—she’s obsessed, and so am I. It really does make your skin glow. And it smells like a summer vacation. I put it on right after the shower.

  • 6Last, seal in the moisture.

When people say, “Your legs look so good,” I swear, this is the reason. The way this whipped body butter makes the light hit your legs is incredible: If you have an event to go to and you’re going to be showing your legs, this is it. It’s rich, it’s hydrating, and it’s ultranourishing (made with three butters—bacuri, cupuaçu, and shea). It just gives you this beautiful, moisturized sheen and leaves you with a subtle, citrusy scent.
