From petite pouchettes to capacious carryalls, demure day bags to beachy baskets, our bag shop has a host of options. We asked seven of our own to share the bags that they have their eye on—and why.
“I’ll be traveling around the South of France, and this pouchette will be my go-to from daytime boat trips to evening apero. The size: fits necessities like my phone and lip gloss. The woven leather: practical luxury. The shape: fun. Bonus chicness: the gold ring closure detail.”

“Since moving to Santa Monica, I’ve realized that a lot of the bags I carried in NYC suddenly seem a little too formal and fussy. I also own an alarming number of black bags, which can look harsh out here. I love the warm chocolate-brown suede of this one and the soft, curved shape—it’s relaxed but still polished, and small enough to throw over my shoulder for quick errands around town. The adjustable strap is another plus, and at $690, the price feels relatively sane for a beautifully made Italian suede bag.”
“A pony hair bag is nonnegotiable in my closet. This one goes with literally everything and has a very ’90s Jil Sander vibe that I love. Plus, its slim belt means I can use it as a work bag or cinch it for a night out.”

“I keep coming back to this ladylike day bag. The mix of canvas and leather gives it an effortless summer-in-the-city feel, and the cream-and-chocolate colorway goes with just about everything in my closet. I especially love the look of the top handle, though the optional shoulder strap makes it all the more versatile.”

“This clutch is everything I look for in a handbag. It feels modern yet timeless, with a clean, architectural silhouette. The top-handle design transitions effortlessly from day to dinner to drinks. And I love the thoughtful details—the buttery nappa leather, the beautifully organized interior, and the signature hardware. It’s the kind of investment piece that I'll reach for season after season.”

“The kind of bag that quietly elevates everything. Toteme's T-Lock is one of the brand's signature silhouettes, and I especially love it in this compact clutch shape. The muted champagne leather functions as a neutral but feels a bit more unexpected, making it the kind of timeless piece that works just as well with denim during the day as it does for a night out.”

“I live in a small town on the Connecticut shoreline, so I have very little need for bags in my life: I drive most places and can usually slip my phone and a lip balm into my pocket. But I do have ample opportunity to spend lazy summer evenings down on the beach watching the waves roll in and the sun set over the Sound. And I think said evenings would be that much more enjoyable if I brought a bottle of wine in this vintage basket bag. It comes with two crystal glasses—and has enough room to tuck a couple of snacks inside as well. Then, once toes-in-the-sand season is over, I think it'll be cute on the shelf in my mudroom.”
