Why Our goop x CB2 Collaboration Transcends Trends

We first debuted the goop x CB2 collaboration back in 2018, quickly becoming a decor-world darling for pieces that felt both bold and timeless, idiosyncratic yet endlessly versatile. After reprising the iconic collection in 2024, our creative partnership is still bringing joy to our homes—and continuing to evolve.
In this algorithm-fueled era when design trends seem to change overnight, eight years is practically an eternity. So what makes this collaboration so enduring? For starters, a hyperspecific roster of inspiration: midcentury Italian furniture, a Parisian walk-up, Montecito’s open-air ease. There’s an heirloom quality to the pieces—many elements are designed to patina over time—paired with surprising contrasts (marble chair legs, an unlacquered brass table edge) that expand on the vintage-market source material. The juxtaposition of hard and soft, industrial and feminine, is a theme that runs through the collection, and is one reason the pieces integrate so seamlessly into a range of interiors.
Tactile surfaces like boucle, velvet, and shearling both add textural interest and invite comfort, whether you’re entertaining guests or savoring a quiet night in. Curved lines soften high-drama materials; lighting feels dynamic and unexpected but never at the expense of cohesion.

Gwyneth Sage Green Velvet Swivel Chair, goop x CB2, $899; Gwyneth 68" Light Blue Velvet Loveseat, goop x CB2, $1,499
Take the Gwyneth Chair, which shot to instant-icon status when it first launched: We elevated a midcentury staple—the swivel chair—with a soft, cocoonlike shape that can transform underused corners into cozy vignettes and living areas into conversation hubs. Sage velvet, new this season, adds warmth and depth to neutral palettes or holds its own in richer-hued environments.
There’s also a loveseat for those in need of more expansive seating—with the same curved lines and sink-in plushness. We’re partial to the Iceberg shade, a clear, cool blue that evokes Pacific vistas and alpine lakes.

Augustine 3-Bulb Glass Chandelier, goop x CB2, $399; Albertine 110" Oval Oak and Unlacquered Brass Dining Table, goop x CB2, $2,999; Perle Shearling and Oak Wood Dining Chair, goop x CB2, $749
The Augustine Chandelier, meanwhile, is a bestseller for a reason: Lanternlike oval glass orbs suspended from rose-gold cloth cords evoke an elegant nonchalance. (It’s also customizable—your preferred hook placement determines the exact drape.)
It makes a stunning statement above the Albertine Dining Table, a dramatic oval in European white oak (FSC-certified sustainable) encircled by a solid unlacquered brass band whose initial gleam will gradually age to the perfect vintage finish. The unlacquered brass is carried through in the subtle goop "g" logo on the leg of the Perle dining chairs—a modern take on a classic silhouette done in white oak and shearling.

Montaigne Black Tripod Floor Lamp, goop x CB2, $599; Mylene 97" Ivory Boucle Curved Sofa, goop x CB2, $3,799; Claude Marble and Oak Wood Bar Cabinet, goop x CB2, $3,299
Similarly, the Mylene Sofa captures the spirit of the collection via a sleek, quintessentially French silhouette and graphic navy piping against plush ivory boucle. (It brings a certain “bienvenue to my Parisian salon” energy to whatever room it anchors.)
Gwyneth's own furnishings served as the starting point for many pieces. The Montaigne tripod floor lamp, featuring an oversized opaline glass globe balanced on thin steel legs, is inspired by one she sourced for her Montecito home, while the Claude Bar Cabinet was modeled after her freestanding onyx bar. This iteration pairs a solid, gorgeously veined marble top with a white oak body and slim brass legs—mixed-material design at its finest.

Regine Aubergine Purple Short Glass Vase, goop x CB2, $149; Celestine Brass Taper Candle Holders Set of 4, goop x CB2, $199; Clemence 2-Piece Carved Marble Side Table Set, goop x CB2, $5,509
Other favorites include a hand-blown low glass vase kissed with an aubergine tint, a vintage-passing set of brass taper candle holders of varying heights, and sculptural marble side tables that serve as objets d’art. It’s no wonder the collection continues to earn its place in our living spaces, year after year.
