The Toolkits Gwyneth Swears By to Go Out, Stay In, and Take Off During the Holidays

Written by:Amy SynnottPublished on:

Life doesn’t exactly slow down for Gwyneth this time of year. “Now that Apple and Moses are both in college, the lead-up to the holidays is a little calmer,” she says. “But then everybody comes home from school, and we get fully inundated—in the best possible way. It all just reverts to how it always was.”

By mid-November, her schedule is a blur. “Usually this is my busiest stretch—and then after Thanksgiving, it’s just full-bore nuts," she says. "You’re trying to do all your regular stuff, plus holiday prep, plus a big final push at work"—and this year, a global press tour for her new movie, Marty Supreme. A casual Wednesday afternoon for Gwyneth? Running through 37 GWYN looks in one hour ("My Oura ring thinks my fitting was a serious workout."), filming an episode of the goop podcast, then heading out to a cocktail party.

Enter the goop Beauty toolkits: four tightly edited routines, filled with the products Gwyneth relies on day to day during this busy holiday season. Each kit is paired with a curated fashion edit from GWYN, rounded out with a few of her favorite multibrand finds in our shop. These are the essentials she turns to—whether she’s rushing to meetings, flying cross-country, staying in to cook and write, or getting glam for a night out.

Gwyneth's Night-Out Toolkit

For a last-minute event, a cozy dinner in LA, or a full-on premiere, these are her essentials for ever-so-slightly turning up the glam. “I’m very minimal unless it’s a major event,” she says. “Then I let my makeup artist take over.”

Gwyneth's Workday Toolkit

Gwyneth’s morning routine offers a masterclass in founder discipline: "The first thing I do is meditate for 20 minutes. Then, after making coffee and checking emails, I work out." She has been doing Tracy Anderson for years: "When I find something that works, I stick with it." The same can be said for the clean, hardworking products in her morning skin-care routine and minimal makeup—a tightly curated collection that leaves her looking like she just emerged from an infrared sauna, after eight hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Gwyneth's Off-Duty Toolkit

“I don’t wear makeup on the weekends—ever,” Gwyneth says. Her weekend skin-care routine is simple, effective, and highly sensorial, starting with an herbal, sudsy cleanser and ending with a layer of nourishing facial oil.

Gwyneth's Travel Toolkit

“I’m all about hydration when I travel,” she says. Whether flying for work or sneaking in a weekend away with Brad, her must-haves include rose water spray, electrolytes, and depuffing eye masks. "And I always do this trick my mom taught me—putting a little Bacitracin in your nostrils on the plane to avoid getting sick,” she says.
