A Sommelier-Worthy Cleanser, a Mascara to Retire False Lashes For, and More Beauty Finds Our Editors Loved in June

Written by:Amy SynnottAura DaviesKylie GilbertElizabeth KimPublished on:

Getting to know the new clean beauty products our buyers bring to goop is one of the (very fun) parts of our job as editors. So, we tend to switch up our rotations regularly, slotting in new launches and turning back to longstanding heroes, experimenting to see how things work for us in different seasons, for different needs, in different combinations. Inevitably, some products start to stand out more than others—and each month, we’re excited to share the ones we’re newly obsessed with.

Ahead, the roundup of our favorite new finds from June.

1T3 Aire IQ

I have fine hair, but a lot of it—and because I’ve highlighted, heat-styled, and generally abused it for years, it’s also not exactly in its virgin-hair era. Blow-drying is the part of my routine I dread most, which is why I only wash my hair twice a week if I can possibly get away with it.

I’m also impatient, so I usually gravitate toward the turbocharged dryers that get the job done fast, even if they make me feel like I’m slowly frying my hair into straw. The gentler, “hair-health” dryers I’ve tried tend to be too polite: nice in theory, but not powerful enough when you have a full head of hair and somewhere to be.

This one is the rare exception. It’s noticeably lighter, so I didn’t get the usual bicep fatigue that makes me divide my blow-dry into four emotional stages with breaks in between. It dries fast, with airflow that feels softer and more controlled, and the smart heat technology adjusts so you’re not blasting your hair with unnecessary heat the entire time. My hair came out smooth, shiny, and less poufy than it usually does when I’m rushing.

The design is also genuinely gorgeous. The stand looks sleek and futuristic—like something you’d find at the MoMA Design Store—which means I’m actually happy to leave it out on my vanity instead of shoving it into my hair tool drawer with a phalanx of tangled cords.

  • I’m weirdly particular about cleansers, mostly because so many of them seem to confuse “clean” with “stripped within an inch of your life.” This one gets my skin really clean—sunscreen, makeup, the general film of living in Los Angeles—without leaving it tight, squeaky, or red and splotchy around my always-sensitive nasio-labial folds.

The texture falls somewhere between a liquid essence and a light creamy gel. Formulated with nourishing butters and oils like sunflower seed and mango seed butter, and hydrating botanicals like echinacea and linden flower, it helps support the skin barrier while you cleanse. It also contains brightening botanicals like kakadu plum, dandelion, ginkgo, and bilberry, so if you leave it on for five to 10 minutes, it works as a quick flash mask, leaving skin visibly brighter at the end of your cleansing routine.

What I love most, though, is the scent. It’s subtle and botanical in a way that doesn’t feel perfumed so much as steeped—like someone macerated a very chic bunch of herbs and flowers and somehow turned it into a cleanser. Which is, more or less, the Vintner’s Daughter story: The formulas start with whole plants and take weeks to make, in these slow, precise infusions that feel closer to winemaking than beauty manufacturing.

The result is a cleanser that smells green and alive, making washing my face feel less like the thing I do before collapsing into bed—and more like a small ritual I actually look forward to.

1Le Prunier Plum Spritz Dual-Phase Barrier Mist

I should be honest and tell you that I was sold on this face mist before I even tried it. Anything Le Prunier and I am in. The California-based company, founded by three sisters who grew up on a plum farm, started with a single product, Plum Beauty Oil, which went so viral in 2020 that it had a 30,000-person waiting list. You might think (as I did) that anything with that much hype could never live up to it, but you’d be wrong: The oil really is that good. Since then, the collection has grown to include five more products, all built around the star ingredient: plums. In this new face mist, the fruit—rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins—is incorporated in two forms: The Plum Beauty Oil and Plum Beauty Juice. The hydrating spritz is also swirled with natural moisturizing factors and hyaluronic acid (in four different molecular weights, to penetrate different layers of the skin). Shake the bottle to combine the biphase formula, then spray the ultrafine mist over your face and neck—it feels incredible, a featherlight kiss of hydration that sinks in instantly to refresh your skin and wake up your complexion. I’m addicted.

  • When I was in college, I waited tables, and a few weeks in one of the bartenders told me that she always wore false eyelashes because she made better tips when she did. I’d never worn false eyelashes, but I stopped at the 24-hour pharmacy on the way home that night and bought a set of Ardelle lashes (the short clusters, not a full strip—I was intrigued but only ready to dip a toe in). My next shift, I placed three clusters at the outer corner of each eye. It took some doing to get them placed in a way that both looked and felt natural. But after much maneuvering with the glue and a pair of tweezers, I got there. And turns out, the bartender was right: My tips were significantly better that night. I even had one guy, dining alone, tip me 100 percent ($38.79 on $38.79—if I ever win the lottery, it will be on some combination of those numbers).

Almost 30 years on, I don’t have the patience for the falsies anymore (and I’m also not working for tips), but I do still believe in the importance of playing up your lashes. It can, however, be tricky to find a clean mascara that delivers the length and definition I want without flaking or smudging or just generally feeling irritating to my often-dry eyes. But then I tried ILIA’s Limitless Lash Mascara. The inky, glossy formula is infused with shea butter and keratin, so it swipes on smoothly and conditions my lashes as it lifts, lengthens, and defines. After Midnight is my go-to—one swipe wakes up my face for everyday, and I add a couple more layers for an evening look. It lasts, with no smudging or fallout, all day (or night). I’m sold.

1Crown Affair The Radiance Hair Oil

I spent the first 30 or so years of my life far more worried about my hair looking greasy than frizzy. As someone with straight, fine hair, I was an expert in dry shampoos—and kept hair oils firmly in the “not for me” category. In the past few years, though, two things changed: I started coloring my hair for the first time, and hormonal changes caused my once stick-straight hair to become wavier and drier. Suddenly, frizz was something I had to think about.

So this bottle of hair oil arrived at the perfect time, especially because I had put my hair through a lot in June, including a trip to my colorist to go brighter blonde for summer and a few weekends at the beach where my hair was exposed to the sun, salt water, and chlorine. My hair was feeling especially parched when I reached for this bottle for the first time, but I was admittedly still nervous that it would make my freshly washed hair look greasy. Those fears were put to rest immediately. The lightweight oil sinks in right away, taming frizz and adding hydration to leave your hair incredibly soft and silky—but without looking or feeling like you have anything in your hair. (And it smells incredible.) It’s also extremely versatile: You can apply it to damp hair before styling (it protects against heat up to 450 degrees), combine it with the Overnight Repair Serum before bed, or apply a few drops to dry hair as a finishing touch for added shine.

  • When June hits, I like to keep a go-bag at the door with all of my summer essentials: my favorite park blanket, the new SPF I’m testing, and whatever book I can’t put down at the moment. By necessity, that bag always includes a mosquito repellent, but I had never found one I could say I genuinely enjoyed using. That changed with these wipes.

First, the form is genius: Individually wrapped and incredibly convenient (you can easily put one in the pocket of your jeans), they also ensure you never miss a spot. They’re DEET-free, instead using lemon eucalyptus oil and cedarwood to naturally repel mosquitoes, ticks, and gnats—while also relieving bites you already have thanks to the calming chamomile and juniper berry and soothing aloe and peppermint. The saturated wipes also provide a cooling sensation on contact, which, combined with the scent—a little minty, a little woodsy, a little citrusy—feels way more like a spa beauty moment than a purely functional one. This is all to say, these wipes have earned their permanent spot in the go-bag (and any other bag I’ll be using this summer).

    1Westman Atelier Pore Refining Complex

Pores are my nemesis. Specifically, the ones on my forehead and nose that always seem to show up even when I've done my best work to disguise them with foundation and concealer. So, I was eager to try the new Westman Atelier Pore Refining Complex serum. As a makeup artist, Gucci Westman knows that any great makeup look starts with the right canvas—so, she created this nighttie serum to smooth unwanted texture, calm redness, and brighten dark spots. The hero ingredient is azelaic acid, a gentle yet effective exfoliant, paired with the brand’s proprietary pore-refining complex (a blend of hecapeptide-10 and botanical extracts), delivered via exosome technology to guide actives exactly where they’re needed.

It glides smoothly onto skin and dries down to a velvety matte finish. After a month of nightly use, I’ve noticed that my pores look smaller and the dark spots I accumulated from recent sun exposure are visibly faded.

The serum comes in the usual sleek Westman Atelier packaging—a ballet-slipper pink bottle with a gold pipette cap—and is small enough to toss into a toiletry bag for all your summer travels.

  • I love a good face mist (Saie’s CitySet Lightweight Setting Spray, Tower 28’s SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray, and Sofie Pavitt Face’s Fridge to Face Blemish Defense Mist are all staples in my routine) but had never considered the merits of a body spray—until this Eucalyptus Water made me a fanatic.

I’ve used it every day since bringing the sample home from our office—after long hikes, beach days, workouts, and even on work from home days when I need a pick-me-up. Using it feels like running through sprinklers in the park on a hot summer day: the 360-degree atomizer disperses a fine mist at any angle (including upside down) for a cooling refresh, while the spa-like eucalyptus scent helps me instantly de-stress. And it’s alcohol-free, made with just eucalyptus water and leaf oil, which are naturally hydrating and antioxidant-rich—so I know I’m doing something good for my mood and my skin.
