Not only does Veja make reliably cute and comfortable sneakers; the brand also walks the walk when it comes to sustainability and forest conservation. The mesh upper on these kicks is made from recycled plastic bottles, the panels are done in vegan suede, the lining is recycled polyester, and the natural rubber in the sole is sourced from the Amazon, where it’s harvested by family co-ops of rubber tappers. The molds-to-your-feet technology at work in the insoles is next-level. And the retro-leaning cream-and-teal colorway? V cool.
Founded by childhood friends Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion, Veja produces everyday sneakers with strong sustainability cred. The brand sources Amazonian rubber directly from seringueiros (rubber tappers) for its soles, practices radical transparency by publishing everything from material costs to chemical safety test reports, and spends zero dollars on advertising, redirecting those funds to things like higher compensation for laborers. The designs range from classic to retro, all with their signature “V” emblazoned on the side.
