Home Office or Corner Office: Knitwear That Works for Both

Return-to-workplace plans are rolling out across the country, and the new Monday-to-Friday looks different for everyone. Some people are back full-time while others are allowed to work from home indefinitely. And still others (like us goop staffers!) are experimenting with a hybrid model. Whichever camp you fall into, you’ll likely need a few new pieces to float you through fall—luckily, these sweaters can skew corporate, cozy, or somewhere in between, depending on how you style them.

JUMPSUIT YOURSELF

Firing off emails from the couch or seeing friendly faces IRL: They’re both made better by an inconspicuously cozy, cotton-wool one-and-done. Accessorize as needed with blue-light glasses, above-the-waist shine, and the bag you bought in anticipation of this very moment.

MOST VALUABLE LAYER

Polished yet relaxed. Hardworking yet humble. Unflinchingly adaptable, no matter what you throw at it. We’re talking about the classic button-down-and-sweater combo. Team it with jeans when stepping out into the world; slip into silk boxers the minute you get home.

GREY AREA

On days packed with meetings and client calls, this smoke-hued staple can be dressed up with culottes, boots, and a means-business bag. On all other days, we love it with leggings and a low-key updo (bonus points for using the world’s sleekest hair tie).

BOLD SCHOOL

Aside from being wearable serotonin, sweaters with big sleeve energy also function as conversation starters—something for your coworkers to compliment while you’re waiting for everyone else to join the meeting.

STRIPE RIGHT:

Our long-standing obsession with La DoubleJ started with kaleidoscopic dresses and only deepened when we discovered the brand’s sweaters. Woven from the plushest-ever alpaca wool, this ’70s-esque knit is the perfect complement to pleated trousers, pajama shorts, whatever.

LONG GAME

Flying in the face of the no-white-after-Labor-Day rule, this cream cardigan is effortlessly chic buttoned over a slip dress (we’re partial to this G. Label one) or worn open with a tank top and shorts (leather, loungy—do what feels right).
