A good chunk of reader requests we field here at goop are for practical tips on what to wear, where. Come summer, the Hamptons—equal parts beach, town, and scene—is one of those trickier challenges. Beach: Madeline Picnic Co.

When every day is a beach day, brown bagging it with a sad PB&J can get more than a little monotonous. Customizable picnic operation Madeline Picnic Co. prepares fresh, locally-sourced meals designed to travel well. The average picnic can include anything from French-inspired sandwiches to market salads to fresh desserts and can be tweaked to accommodate up to six people (there are options for kids, too). Culture: Gallery Hopping

Southampton surfer/gallerist Tripoli Patterson just opened a new outpost in East Hampton, and since Patterson has a reputation for bringing in artists that seem well beyond his years (he opened his gallery when he was just 24) his summer exhibition, “A Walk,: is definitely a must-see. After that, stroll over to Eric Firestone’s cheekily titled group show “She Sells Seashells by the Seashore,” which features works from Raymond Pettibon, Andrew Kuo, and FriendsWithYou (they’re the group that set up the unicorn-colored light cave at the Dallas Contemporary). And while it’s more of a museum than a gallery, don’t miss the Long House’s Surf Craft exhibition, which examines the world of surfboard design. Meanwhile, The Watermill Center Benefit is another Hamptons art-lover’s event to put on the calendar. The center is one of the country’s only spaces devoted to performance art, and the benefit brings together more than 25 performing artists, who perform around the guests all night.

Dinner: Moby’s

While there’s a more formal dining room up front at this summer-only pop-up from the Eveleigh/Kingswood crew, we like the great open-air patio out back best. It’s dotted with picnic benches and lounge areas, along with an on-site wood-burning pizza oven (they make their own mozzarella). The wait for food can be intense, but if you don’t mind killing time over cocktails, it’s a fun option.
