Summer Style
City or country, East Coast or West, great summer style is universal: It comes down to pieces that are as easy on the eyes as they are low-maintenance. And as these goop editors will tell you, a few gorgeous pieces of jewelry (like a stack of designer bracelets that clink as festively as champagne flutes) never hurt.

I live (and work, when not in our NYC office) in Nyack, a little river town about halfway from Manhattan to upstate NY. The vibe is very Northern California (where I’m from), with a little Brooklyn thrown in.

I love a farmers’ market stroll that ends in an alfresco dinner at Art Café. Trailing around in a satin skirt makes me feel relaxed, sexier than usual, and aggressively over- and underdressed all at once. It’s my very favorite state. The little knit top goes with everything—jeans, shorts, a bikini bottom—but especially a satin skirt. The Birkenstocks say Nyack, and the perfect tangle of impossibly glamorous bracelets makes me feel that my arms are suddenly longer and shapelier.

The ultimate Nyack evening is a farm dinner. goop food editor Ana Hito founded It’s a Dinner, and every couple of months they throw an epic dinner outside or in a barn. (The most recent was an Italian extravaganza with wildflowers everywhere and incredible food and drinks.) The stack of bracelets could not go better with this Chloé sundress—it’s just the prettiest, easiest, subtle but super glamorous combination. A pair of sandals and a fabulous bag add little touches of gold to pick up on the bracelets’ golden-hour glow (and the G. Label Sonny cardigan is there in case it gets cold!).

I live in downtown NYC and work in goop’s New York office. Summer in the city is a delicate balance of chic and comfortable. The humidity in New York is no joke—the last thing I want is to feel like my outfit is making me melt.

In the summer, I walk everywhere—from meetings midtown to appointments crosstown. I wear sneakers just about every day. I love the look of a utility dress, and this one is the perfect length: short but not so mini that it wouldn’t be appropriate for a meeting. I love the look of white-gold bracelets stacked up my wrist: It’s such a streamlined, modern statement—and the perfect counterbalance to my sneakers.

Evenings are usually spent with friends or having dinner with my husband at the bar of Il Buco—my favorite my neighborhood restaurant. My go to is a midi dress: I’ll pair it with flat sandals (for an easy walk home) and some sweet, pretty bracelets and accessories that keep it all in not-so-serious mode. This look also works for the weekends when I head out to Amagansett and have dinner in the town square.

I spend most of my time on the Westside of LA, where I live and work, so by Saturday, it’s time to seek inspiration in other neighborhoods. I maintain a Will Travel for Art policy, because to love LA, one must appreciate its sprawl and accept its traffic.

I love this Valentino minidress: Between the colors and pattern, it’s like an LA pool party crashed a New England country club. I’d keep it buttoned up and wear it with barely there black flats and white sunglasses for a look that’s colorful, feminine, and fun—which is how I’d describe myself on a good day. Because I want to masquerade as an art collector, and because I love the depth of mixed metals, I’d juxtapose this cuff with smaller bracelets to create my own wearable art collection.

The Michelin Guide just released its newest California selections, giving my fiancé and I reason to revisit some of our favorite spots to celebrate their success. (One of my first loves was Rustic Canyon in Santa Monica.) This long black floral dress has a laid-back vibe, and with my VCA stack, the only other accessory I need is a neutral bag for keys, card, and maybe a copy of the menu to reread after dinner.
