A pair of jeans can be with you for years—supporting you through life’s big and small moments, earning sentimental value over time, even outlasting some relationships—which is why it’s important to invest in quality. Here, three brands so good, they’ll always have a place in our denim stack.

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY

We love Citizens of Humanity for its superior fabrics and wide range of styles. It’s one of the few vertically integrated denim operations out there, meaning every step of production, from the first cut to the final stitch, is done in-house. Every pair of jeans passes through the hands of at least 40 skilled craftsmen—and you’ll feel that difference in quality every time you slip them on.

STILL HERE

Worn by cool girls on both coasts, this New York–based brand first came onto the scene in 2018 with its one-of-a-kind painted jeans, and we’ve been fans ever since. Its product line is a good mix of classic and fun: Relaxed straight-legs and ’90s-inspired wedgie jeans sit alongside more playful styles, like the Cowgirl, a high-waisted, bow-legged silhouette with diamond cutouts at the outer knee.

SLVRLAKE

If you want the look of vintage denim without having to scour through flea markets to find it, then buying your jeans from SLVRLAKE is the way to go. The cuts are timeless; the washes, quietly cool. The brand is best known for its London Jean—a flattering high-rise tapered style—but we’re particularly fond of its wide-legs.

SOME ONE-OFF STYLES WE LOVE

These swishy trouser jeans from G. Label are so good. If you have the funds, the low- and midrise straight-legs from Khaite and The Row, respectively, are worth every penny. We like these light-blue RE/DONEs for every day, and the indigo Jamie Haller painter jeans for more of a statement. Which brings us to the jet-black jeans from newcomer Rùadh: With their pinched waist and slouchy fit, they’re undeniably cool. That they’re made in small batches from ethically sourced denim is just the cherry on top.
