Bassike is Open in Venice

Australian brand Bassike (pronounced “basic”) has been on our radar for a while now—in no small part, because they do great soft cotton jersey t-shirts that hang perfectly (they made our list of 11 best). Everything is made from organic and sustainable cotton—yet that’s not something you would even notice (there’s nothing remotely crunchy about anything in the collection). Every piece is luxurious, modern, and structured—and the t-shirts work for a variety of scenarios, not just for off-duty weekends.

These are just some of the reasons their first brick-and-mortar in the states is big news. And it’s in Venice—the heart of LA’s surf and skate culture, which is a nice match for the brand as it has its roots in the Australian surf town of Avalon. Located on Lincoln, they share a backyard with The General Store, and the space is lined with vertical aquaculture gardens growing vegetables for Superba, which is just up the street. Light-filled and spacious, the interior echoes the line itself—sleek and modern, with neutral tones and architectural shapes. Do not leave without rifling through the kids section.
