Dear Anne, I’m into the idea of wearing an all-white outfit, but I feel like I always end up looking like I’m wearing a uniform. It seems so simple, but I’m stumped! What’s the best way to pull it off?—Stacey C.
Dear Stacey, You’ve asked the right person, because my love for summer whites is endless. The trick to pulling it off is in the accessories. My advice is to really commit to a look even if it’s a classic one. If you like neutral accessories, stick to them as a theme throughout. If you are into color, add bright pops throughout and a sharp shoe. And, as always, a little bit of texture (velvet, lace, metallic) breaks up any look.
The trick to mastering head-to-toe white dressing is to not overthink it: Here, a lace detail top pairs sweetly with a scalloped edge skirt. To keep things grounded, add simple accessories like a metallic gold sandal and a structured top-handle tote.

So Fresh and So Clean
A white blouse teamed with a slim-fitting pant is one of those looks that feels right all season long. (It’s so utterly reliable you might as well maximize the number of wears into fall.) A slip-on mule gets jazzed up with a bit of embellishment—pearls, obviously—while a small, red chain-strap bag is just the oomph you need to feel dressed up.

A LWD (Little White Dress)
Truth be told, nothing offsets sun-kissed skin like a little white dress. In a way, the crisp poplin offers a kind of clean slate—it delivers just the right amount of “trying,” without seeming overdone. A pointy flat and blush goes-with-everything cross-body bag work as nicely for a day running around the office as they do for winding down at happy hour.
