Ali Pew’s post as goop fashion director sends her packing. A lot. There are now more fashion weeks than we can count, and photo shoots won’t style themselves. This is our chance to live vicariously.

For me, gearing up for the holidays falls into three categories: dressy and festive, skiing, and beach time—when I get to reset before it’s back to work. Just before the holidays, my husband and I celebrate here in LA with friends. I rely heavily on an easy dress that works for multiple occasions with a switch-up of accessories (elegant jewel tones, party pleats, and a clutch that doubles as jewelry). Then it’s off to Salt Lake City to hunker down in my hometown and hit the slopes. Now that I live by the coast, piling on the layers feels kind of special—so bring on the puffer, the ’80s-inspired knits, the suspenders, the works. We like to close out winter break at sea level, ringing in New Year’s with a few days of sun. Perhaps not that surprisingly, my beach essentials don’t stray far from my clean-and-minimal-everything aesthetic.
