The Hamptons Specialty
Amagansett Farmers’ Market
367 Main St., Amagansett
The Amagansett farmers' market, which occupies a beautiful series of old stalls near downtown, has transferred ownership a few times in the past few years, so we couldn't be more excited that it's finally found a home with Amanda and Katie of Amber Waves Farm. You'll be able to pick up their amazing produce right on-site, and they'll also have dry goods, cheeses, iced coffee, some prepared foods. Don't forget to pick up a bouquet on your way out.
Amber Waves Farm
375 Main St., Amagansett
Katie and Amanda established their Amagansett organic farm in 2009. Among their crops is their wheat, which they harvest and sell in wheat berry form or mill on the spot for their customers at the Montauk farmers' market. They’ve taken it one step further by partnering with a local baker to make their very own bread. Having reintroduced wheat into the East End, they’ve literally reinvented the meaning of “local bread.” They've got a great CSA, plus a sophisticated education program that teaches kids about growing food. If you're not in town long enough for the CSA, pick up their produce at the farmers' market, or from their farm stand.
284 Town Ln., Amagansett
The specialty of this South Fork farm is tomatoes (they grow dozens of varieties) but their corn is pretty outstanding as well. They also offer a great CSA program which can be upgraded to include flowers, fresh herbs, and even cheese.
139 Pantigo Rd., Amagansett
If you're lucky enough to completely relocate to the East End for the summer, Bhumi Farms' CSA box is an easy way to get your hands on some of the best produce local farms have to offer. But if you're a weekends-only person, you can still benefit from their farm stand, which is open every day from 11am to 7pm. Regardless, you won't have to say goodbye to these guys at the end of the summer—Bhumi's fall CSA boxes are delivered in the city.
8 Wharf St., Sag Harbor
Known for their generously sized waffle cones, this old-fashioned ice cream shop is situated right on the water in Sag Harbor. If you're on your way back into the city from the Hamptons, it's likely that your GPS will send you in Big Olaf's direction in an attempt to avoid traffic, which conveniently makes for a happy pit stop. Just note that this is a cash-only joint.

Located in a quaint little white house, this Buddha Berry (one of three locations in the Hamptons) offers classic and unique flavors (cookies & cream, Georgia peach, latte), with toppings that range from healthy (chia seeds, flax seeds, raw almonds) to less so (Sour Patch Kids and Nerds).

A cheese shop as masterful as any in the center of a big city, tucked away in Sag Harbor, Cavaniola’s is a must. Their staff is knowledgeable, and their wine cellar is pretty adorable (and delivers).
Dylan’s Candy Bar
52 Main St., East Hampton
The East Hampton outpost of Dylan Lauren's bright, graphic candy shop is a go-to for housewarming gifts, especially when you're hoping to get on the good side of your younger hosts. The Hamptons shop also has a summery assortment of pool and beach accessories, like candy-shaped pool floats, striped beach towels, frisbees, and adorable goggles decorated with plastic sprinkles. This summer, they're also selling DO, the customizable, safe-to-eat cookie dough you have to wait hours for in the city.
East Hampton Gourmet (Closed)
66 Newtown Ln., East Hampton
East Hampton Gourmet has been around for a little over 20 years and its not difficult to understand why. In addition to their catering, which is the perfect solution if you don’t want to cook, they also offer curb-side pickup. They have delicious prepared foods (including frozen dim sum), as well as delectable, gluten-free lentil crackers, which are so good with their lentil pâté. The turkey chili, Chinese chicken salad, and crab cakes are all perfection.
