ByGeorge opened in Austin 1979 but in 2015 the clothing and home store came under new ownership—it's now helmed by Austin restaurateur Larry McGuire (of Josephine House, among others), and TENOVERSIX's Kristen Cole serves as creative director. There are two locations in Austin: The Clarksville ByGeorge actually combines two shops next door to one another—a women's store and a men's store. On the women's side, you'll find designers like Chloé, Marni, Yves Saint Laurent, and a good selection of bags and shoes; and on the men's, Brunello Cucinelli, Common Projects, and Levi's Vintage. The South Congress store carries clothing as well (A.P.C., FRAME, Outdoor Voices, Jenni Kayne, and more), but it's also known for it's home goods and decor, furniture, ceramics, books, and great gift-y items.

Outdoor Voices describes their Austin store (their only permanent brick-and-mortar) as "a recreation paradise and our spiritual home," which pretty much sums it up. The shop itself occupies a sweet bungalow in the sleepy Clarksville neighborhood, which means the clean, monochromatic displays of their cool-kid activewear are complemented by a white-washed fireplace and airy French doors. The community around this store is really strong, so check their social media channels for yoga classes and run clubs, which they regularly host at the store and all over the city.
