San Francisco Services
Although her corporate events are really beautifully executed (no surprise, with clients like Salesforce, Airbnb, and Pier 24), Alison is best known for her gorgeous weddings in Northern California (and really, all over the world). She's expert at creating an experience that feels uniquely personal and not recycled.
Amy Kaneko Events
Amy is an alumnus of Yifat Oren, one of our all-time favorite event-planning outfits, so you know she's got the chops to pull off amazing parties. She is also a trained architect, which explains her excellent sense of space and knack for focusing on the right subtle design techniques to make the most of your venue.
Atelier Joya does justice to both massive corporate events and one-off arrangements, but weddings are really what they're known for (lush bridal bouquets, flower-topped cakes, and centerpieces that cascade onto the floor). They also have a great rental service for the kind of beautiful things you could buy for an event but might not have use for in the long run. Their warehouse is full of wooden crates, wire baskets, antique lanterns, and even a chuppah.
Bi-Rite Market Catering
Bi-Rite is actually a neighborhood market—it's best known for hyper-local fruits and vegetables and a seriously good deli. Their catering business is capable of everything from a few pre-made meals to a full course dinner, and we love their big platters, which are perfect (and perfectly easy) for corporate events. Their famous ice cream, made in their in-house creamery, makes picking the dessert option a no-brainer.
564 Hayes St., Hayes Valley
Torryne Choate is a truly talented designer. While she can take on any floral challenge you throw her way, she's especially skilled at handling those way-harder-than-they-look homogenous sculptural arrangements—not to mention crafting flower crowns that put your Pinterest to shame. For our San Francisco pop-up shop, we asked her to put together arrangements to complement the architectural space; needless to say, she didn't disappoint.
2975 Washington St., Pacific Heights
The folks at Bloomers have been in business for more than 30 years: They are fantastic at incorporating unusual flowers into arrangements, so if you're hoping for African violets or parrot tulips and unsure how to style them, this is the shop to call.
BloomThat takes all the guesswork out of sending flowers. Their app and website are foolproof-easy to use. Based on where you want your arrangement delivered—BloomThat delivers same-day around NYC and SF, and next-day all over the country—you're given a handful of very pretty, very tasteful options. The arrangements vary, but think tulips wrapped in burlap; peonies, roses, hydrangea in a compact glass vase; a trio of succulents in a handmade, reclaimed wood box. Like any good online delivery service, you'll know when your order is going out and when your gift has been successfully delivered.
Brown Paper Design
702 Harrison St., Berkeley
Since its inception back in 2007, the focus at this event design company has been on florals. That said, founder Danielle Rowe and her talented team can lend their signature romantic aesthetic to each and every event aspect. Brown Paper Design also operates in Los Angeles.
Brumley & Wells Photography
It’s awfully rare to find a wedding photographer that shoots in film these days, and that’s exactly what makes Brumley & Wells so unique and different. Obviously, film can be digitized after the event, but the quality of the photo album alone (especially for artists or designers) more than justifies skipping the digital camera. They’re based in San Francisco, but love to travel for destination events.
Caroline Frost Photography
The first thing you’ll notice about Caroline Frost is that she’s supremely organized: She comes to every event armed with a thorough timeline and a neat list of every shot she needs to get before the day is over. That attention to detail means that she can easily fade into the background on the actual day, never interrupting the special moments around the ceremony or during the reception for photos. Caroline is also famously great at organizing wedding albums—rather than disappearing moments after the event, she’ll walk you through the entire process.
