Marcel Rochas, once one of the most sought-after couturiers in Paris, founded his namesake brand in 1925 (at twenty-three, no less) after his fiancée begged him to design the wedding dress of her dreams. His original designs never lacked frills, in fact, the man loved a nipped-waist, a floaty skirt, and hyper-feminine silhouettes, all of which are still well represented today. Successfully relaunched in 2009 by creative director, Alessandro Dell’ACqua, legions of fans worldwide count on the iconic woven silk brocades, ethereal embroidered chiffons, and signature Chantilly lace, season after season.
