Fun fact: Heum Namkung, the woodworker who makes this handcrafted vessel, doesn’t sketch out his ideas. His background as an industrial engineer gives him the tools to locate a concept in a block of wood before he even begins the carving process. Each of these eight-by-four-inch oval dishes is lifted on four feet, each close to two inches in height, and the finished product is oiled to protect the wood and accentuate its rich walnut hue. It’s made to last a lifetime—and then to be passed down, with love, for generations to come.
