The sisters behind Nackiyé draw inspiration from the eastern Mediterranean of their childhood, dreaming up modern-feeling takes on traditional kaftans. Done in 100 percent cotton, this maxi has boldly voluminous sleeves with pin-tuck detailing, which are balanced by the simplicity of the round collar and split neck. In 2018, sisters Basak and Defne Kocabiyikoglu launched Nackiyé in their native Istanbul. But let’s rewind a bit: in their past lives Defne worked as a trend-forecaster and Basak as a buyer for a top luxury boutique in the UK—it was only a matter of time before they combined their powers for something of their own. Over the years, Nackiyé has perfected its modern take on traditional Mediterranean silhouettes (inspired by the 1980s Istanbul of the sisters’ childhood). The collection is a testament to their impeccable eye for draping, sculptural elements, and materials sourced to be soft, you never want to take them off.
