Sweetgreen Finally Opens In L.A.

In 2007, three braniac Georgetown grads launched Sweetgreen, a fast casual concept that revolves around seasonal, healthy, strictly local fare. Now, there are 29 outposts scattered across the East Coast, serving up Mexican corn bowls, and strawberry and Humboldt Fog goat cheese salads, but weirdly, nothing on the West Coast. Until today: A West Hollywood location opened its doors—and apparently there’s one in Santa Monica coming fast on its heels. While that alone is enough to excite the natives, their commitment to top-to-bottom sustainability makes it all even better: The restaurants themselves are constructed from reclaimed materials and the packaging is 100% plant-based and compost-friendly. And you can feel good knowing 1% of every order made using the sweetgreen rewards app goes to the Sweetgreen in Schools initiative, which educates kids on the importance of healthy eating.
