Four Easy Meals for Weekday Hosting

You know those people who make entertaining look really easy? Who consider every detail, whether they’re having you over for an Oscars viewing party, or pizza night to road test their new grill? Goop graphic designer Megan Converse is one of those people. Meg recently moved into a new house in Hancock Park with her husband Jonny, and has been digging in to her new (much larger) kitchen. “It can get stressful trying to stop by the store on the way home from work or to make sure you get everything on Sunday beforehand, so I use Instacart grocery delivery service for my groceries even though we try to get fresh produce from the Larchmont Farmers Market every chance we get,” she explains. Meg shared with us a few of her favorites, including her trick for a week’s worth of lunches (thank you, slow cooker) and one of her favorite dinner party tricks: an easy-to-make slash almost too-pretty-to-eat dessert.

Megan's Picks

  • Slow Cooker Thai Chicken Thighs

“I love to make a big batch of this at beginning of week. It’s nice because I can start the slow cooker before I leave for work so that by the time I get home, it’s ready to go! I was actually super nervous the first time I left home with it on. It goes against everything I was taught growing up! Thea, our food editor, reassured me that it would be fine, and sure enough, it was more than fine—it was amazing. The best part? The portion is so hearty, it lasts me the entire week.”

  • Crunchy Veggie Salad with Poached Chicken & Garlicky Sunbutter Dressing

“I’ve actually never done a full-on detox but I try to cook as healthy as possible during the week, that way I don’t feel guilty about eating whatever I want on the weekend. This one is super easy to make before I leave for work. And, you feel great after eating it.”

  • Shrimp Scampi

“This shrimp scampi is in my regular rotation. It’s also really fun to make for a dinner party and is a super cute idea when you’re serving tapas. I hadn’t cooked with shrimp before but once I caught our food editors testing this recipe in our goop test kitchen, I was hooked!”

  • Mini Chocolate Pavlovas

“I’m a major chocolate person and this is by far the easiest dessert I’ve ever made! It’s super delicious and the end result is very beautiful. The fruit really complements it AND it dresses up the dessert plate, too. It’s my go-to for dinner parties, especially with an espresso. It’s always a hit!”
