Everyday Detox: Smoothie + Zucchini-Noodle Bowl
Detoxing is a daily practice (one that your body inherently performs), but there are a lot of things you can do to give it a boost—primarily by making an effort to ensure the environment you live in, the products you put on your body, and the food you eat are as nourishing and free from toxins as possible. These two goop-favorite recipes exemplify the best of clean eating—they’re packed with superfood vegetables and fruits (plus a little algae for good measure), and they’re delicious and satisfying.
Chlorella—a fresh water, single-celled algae—is an excellent source of chlorophyll and protein, and blends up easily into any smoothie. We pair it with antioxidant-packed berries, peaches, and a little ginger, which do a great job of balancing its slightly swampy flavor.
Zucchini that’s dressed in a sophisticated play on pesto takes advantage of magnesium-rich pepitas, stomach-soothing mint, and chlorophyll-packed parsley. It’s a meal that will please even the pickiest of palates—plus, it takes less than 5 minutes to make. If you don’t have a spiralizer, simply prepare one serving of brown rice noodles and shave one zucchini into them before covering with sauce.
