A New Twist on Classic Holiday Apps

Everyone loves an appetizer, and while you can’t go wrong with the classics (maple-spiced nuts, anyone?), we thought it would be fun to mix things up a bit this holiday season. Here are four killer appetizers, inspired by different spots on the globe, that you won’t find at every other cocktail party: deviled eggs with lime juice and crispy shallots from Thailand, chicken meatball lettuce wraps with a bulgogi marinade and kimchi from Korea, saffron and mozzarella rice balls (or arancini, if you’re feeling fancy) from Italy, and ginger-flecked shrimp toast from China. Serve one or all of these with some good sparkling wine (which happens to go with just about everything), and call it a day.

Bulgogi is a famous (and seriously delicious) Korean marinade made with soy, ginger, garlic, and usually brown sugar. Here we seasoned mini chicken meatballs with all of those flavors and served them in bite size lettuce cups for a healthy and flavorful spin on Korean BBQ.
