Ending Soon: The Palms, Rockaway

Remember Rockaway Taco, the tiny taco stand/surf shack that made Rockaway beach in Long Island a destination a few years ago? Its founder, David Selig, together with cultural curators and foodies Anna Polonsky and Amy Morris, have taken it a step further by creating an oasis of coolness in the same location: The Summer Shift has taken over the taco stand and created a pop-up food destination, while The Palms across the street hosts movie nights, pre-surf mud baths, Topless gallery art shows, a Feathers boutique for bikinis and beachwear, and No School, a series of art projects and workshops designed and lead by artists for kids ages 7-14. Plus, on September 26th the hot Buenos Aires restaurant Colectivo Felix will be hosting a special end-of-season dinner at The Palms. In short, there’s a lot going on. For those of us who refuse to accept that the summer is over, this is the place to go—surfboard under one arm—until the end of the month.
