Ellen Degeneres

Comedian, Collector & Designer

Everyone knows that Ellen Degeneres is funny. But not everyone knows that Ellen is one of L.A.’s biggest patrons of art and design—her homes, which have been, and continue to be, some of the city’s best (she’s also known for her ability to buy, redo, and then quickly sell real estate for a significant profit) are both exquisite and interesting, full of primitive African objects, Prouvés, Royeres, and everything in between. It’s no surprise that Ellen is taking all of this taste and channeling it into her own lifestyle brand, ED, which will debut in Spring 2015 (along with a coffee table book about her homes, and the homes of her frequent collaborators).

“Axel Vervoordt is kind of everything: Every time I think I’m finally done with a room, I open one of Axel’s books and am inspired to start over completely.”

Interiors Atelier AM
by Alexandra Misczynski and Michael Misczynski

“I really respond to design work that isn’t overly precious—where objects from a range of periods and styles are put into conversation, in a totally unexpected way. This design team is masterful at that mix.”

by Diane Keaton

“Diane Keaton is equally obsessive about architecture and design—in this book, she presents the work of some of her favorites. It’s all beautiful.”

“And, of course, MINE, when it comes out next year…”
