The Kitchen Healer on
Simple Ways to Feed Your Family
Jules Blaine Davis, otherwise known as The Kitchen Healer, has a gift for cutting through the shame many women feel around cooking—whether they feel they don’t do it enough or good enough. Her kitchen tips are simple—it is enough, Davis proves, just to get into the kitchen, where we’ve experienced her healing powers first-hand.
Here, in two videos, she shows the (again, simple simple) magic of what she calls “Wood Board Love” and shares more of her put-you-at-ease wisdom. Plus, our food editors weigh in with their ingredient picks for your own wood board spreads, quick no-recipe-recipes (is there a better kind?), and selects from the shop that keep it all easy and fun.
All You Really Need in the Kitchen
Davis’s three kitchen essentials.
No-Brainer Veggies
We always try to keep a stock of vegetables on hand so, as Davis says, we can just turn on the oven, add olive oil and salt, and pop them in.

1.Potatoes
-
2. Squash (butternut, delicate, kabocha, acorn, spaghetti)
-
3. Roots (celery root, beets, turnips, carrots, rutabagas, carrots)

4. Sweet potatoes
No-Recipe Dinner
Below, our take on Davis’s throw-together-in-a-second “Mommy Bowl” and other weeknight go-to’s.
