Real Men Eat goop: The Cubano
Jon Favreau rolled into goop HQ the other day with 1) his professional plancha grill and 2) some very strong opinions about how to make the perfect Cubano (which he mastered in his 2014 film Chef with help from Roy Choi). Throwing in ghee, Chinese mustard, and ponzu, GP upped the sandwich with her clean—equally superlative—version.
Jon Favreau's Cubano
This sandwich is the bomb. Seriously. There’s a reason it’s so prominently featured in the film Chef—and it tastes even better than it looks on camera. Jon likes to make his on his super legit plancha sandwich press, but we’ve given you directions for a version you can make at home on a cast-iron griddle.
GP's goop-ano
We didn’t think it would be possible to clean up a cheesy, buttery, pork Cubano, but we turned to some of our favorite Asian ingredients to help: Chinese mustard, ponzu, and ghee. (It tastes just as good, too—we swear.)
