Lucas
124 S.W. 1st Ave., Old Town Chinatown
This hair salon near the Old Town waterfront is a peaceful pampering destination with only five styling chairs—the vibe here is similar to its cozier Los Angeles location. With its well-stocked bar, hardwood-and-brick décor, big comfy couches, and tall, sunny windows, getting your hair done at Lucas feels a lot like hanging out at a friend’s loft. Enjoy a complimentary cocktail from their well-stocked bar while Taylor Lucas and her fellow expert stylists do their thing, whether you’re in for a cut, color, blowout, deep-conditioning treatment, or all of the above (in which case, lucky you).
Stumptown Coffee Roasters
128 S.W. 3rd Ave., Old Town Chinatown
It’s hard to imagine now that their coffee is in every cute coffee shop from San Francisco to Charleston, but there was a time when you could only get Stumptown in Portland. Their cheeky shops are still the best for local roasts, and Tasting Bar at their HQ makes a fun (and energizing) outing for coffee snobs. There are locations in every major neighborhood: Downtown, Sunnyside, Old Town Chinatown, and Richmond.
