The Lobster Roll
32 Montauk Hwy., Southampton
Given the huge “LUNCH” sign hanging over the doorway, you couldn’t miss the Lobster Roll’s new Southampton spot (as casual and welcoming as its Amagansett outpost) even if you tried. The lobster rolls here are excellent, whether you go Connecticut or Maine style.
Sant Ambroeus
30 Main St., Southampton
Breakfast at Sant Ambroeus on Saturday mornings is, for many Upper East Siders and West Villagers, a standing order. When those same crowds descend on the Hamptons for the summer, not much changes.
Jue Lan Club (Closed)
268 Elm St., Southampton
The Hamptons isn't exactly known for its Chinese food, which made the opening of Jue Lan Club in Southampton—the original location is in NYC’s Flatiron district—especially noteworthy. The food here is upscale-Chinese, both classic and modern, which translates to spare ribs and pork fried rice or “drunken” black bass with chiles and braised oxtail with bao buns. Jue Lan Club also brought its night scene to Southampton: It’s open until 4am on the weekends, as the club-ish attachment of the restaurant, known as The Barn (which also serves as an art space), gets going sometime after 11pm.
Tutto Il Giorno
56 Nugent St., Southampton
Here's you find rustic Italian cuisine with a bit of a scene, spread out across two Hamptons locations. The Sag Harbor original is in a cute little cottage and understandably has a quainter vibe, while the Southampton outpost is larger and livelier with a great garden.
Tutto Il Giorno
56 Nugent St., Southampton
Here you'll find rustic Italian cuisine with a bit of a scene. While the smaller Sag Harbor location now has a different menu under the name of Dopo La Spiaggia, the larger, livelier Southampton outpost is still a mainstay with its great garden.
Beautique at the Capri Hotel (Closed)
281 County Line Rd., Southampton
It's kind of great that this Manhattan lounge-slash-restaurant unveiled a summer outpost in the beloved Capri Hotel as it didn't have an eatery of its own until now. Headed by 20-year-old local wunderkind, chef Greg Grossman, the menu boasts all sorts of decadent dishes (ex: fried oysters topped with potato chip mousse, black truffle marmalade, and caviar). Not unlike its midtown counterpart, expect a bit of a scene at this indoor/outdoor spot.
