Each treatment starts with a warm up before going into cardio, sculpting, and cool-down therapies. Your trainer begins by gently using the knuckles to work in cleanser. With swift hand-flicking and pinching techniques the therapy gets under way, tapering off with deep finger sculpting for contouring: The trainer’s fingers dance over your face to help de-puff and stimulate lymphatic drainage. It’s different, fantastic, and feels both rejuvenating and soothing.

Founder Ling Chan has an incredibly healing touch (she got one goop editor’s breakouts significantly under control), and her menu of facials addresses absolutely every concern, especially congestion. With organic malic acid peels, careful extractions, LED light, and soothing ginseng moisture therapy, Chan and her team restore balance to stressed skin holistically. The whole experience is heightened by the beautiful kimono they give you to wear in place of the usual sterile white robe. There’s also a Facials Bar, where clients can get under-an-hour treatments like the Collagen Eye Mask and Radio Frequency Face Lift.

Whether you need to recover from a tough workout or detox after an especially indulgent weekend, there are a variety of high-tech treatments to try alone or build into a package. Try combining a CVAC session, where you sit inside a hyperbaric chamber while the barometric pressure is adjusted to reportedly support circulation and detoxification, with a nap using the NuCalm device, which claims to be a miraculously restorative 30-minute snooze. Finish with a session inside the Sunlighten mPulse Sauna, where you can customize the ratio of near, mid, and far infrared rays.

There are tons of treatment options at this wellness hideout inside the penthouse on a particularly hectic block of Midtown. From a targeted acupuncture and cupping session with founder Joel Granik to a float inside a sensory deprivation tank (that's thought to mimic the body’s experience in the womb) to Reiki healing and yoga classes taught in a gorgeous white room with a glass ceiling, everything here aims to balance and restore the body’s chi. There’s an infrared sauna and a salt cave; the walls of the latter are made from hundreds of pounds of Himalayan salt bricks, which infuse the air with negative ions while you relax on a massage bed.

This urban sweat lodge has three locations in the city and one in East Hampton, all with the spa’s signature infrared sauna wraps. After putting on the provided uniform—a light cotton top and pants—you’ll be snugly bundled inside an infrared blanket (the material it’s made of feels similar to the bib you wear for x-rays at the dentist) and left to watch Netflix while you seriously sweat. The far infrared waves gently warm the body, increasing the core temperature. You emerge from the cocoon 55 minutes later completely drenched. If that isn’t enough, schedule a consecutive lymphatic drainage session, where you’re wrapped in a full body suit that applies targeted pressure to points on the arms, legs, and waist to encourage circulation and detoxification.

This spa has somehow made sweating in an infrared sauna sexy. There are two options: a roomy personal sauna with chromatherapy (everybody looks better in a red-tinted light) or private infrared wrap rooms. Both combine near, mid, and far infrared waves to heat the body from the inside out, resulting in a major detoxification sweat.

Fans of Erika Bloom have come to rely on her workouts in New York, Connecticut, and Los Angeles. And she’s added the Hamptons to the mix, with a studio tucked into a quaint, bright cottage in Water Mill. Some of Bloom's best instructors rotate through the East End, curating super-personalized routines that integrate pilates, yoga, the Alexander technique (for improved posture), the Feldenkrais method (for a better mind-body connection), and weight training. They're big on breathwork and alignment as a foundation for any practice, which means meditation is just as much a part of a session as working up a sweat. There's also an on-site boutique stocked with products from Tata Harper, Alo Yoga, and Sakara Life. The original East Hampton location is open year-round, and both studios make house calls. Seawater Spa at Gurney’s

This resort on a prime stretch of Montauk coast underwent a total renovation in 2014, which included a reimagining of the spa and the restoration of the Olympic-sized saltwater swimming pool, which uses sand-filtered water drawn from the sea. A Finnish-style sauna was also added, where guests can pour aromatherapy-enhanced water over hot stones, and there’s also a eucalyptus oil-infused steam room. Set at 120 degrees and 100 percent humidity, a few minutes here is meant to help the body release impurities through sweating. As one of the only places open year-round, it’s an ideal off-season getaway, too.

Coming up on its eighteenth year in Amagansett Square, Mandala Yoga was founded by Jolie Parcher, who aimed to create a strong wellness community in the area through her studio. Aside from yoga for all levels, several forms of self care are offered, including meditation and Reiki, aromatherapy, and massage, as well as intimate events, like the Mandala book club, a free get-together meant to inspire enlightening conversation and introspection. Even kids can join in, with the studio’s yoga classes for ages four to seven, incorporating music, art, and games.
