Maru
1936 Hillhurst Ave., Los Feliz
Any given morning, you can expect the line for Maru to dribble down the block. The crowd skews creative, and the craft of coffee is taken seriously. They also make delicious tea drinks, including one of our favorite matcha lattes in the city. There's another location in the Arts District.
Go Get Em Tiger
4630 Hollywood Blvd., Los Feliz
Go Get Em Tiger has locations all over LA that usually serve top-notch coffee, incredible pastries, and some very delicious savory breakfast plates, but it’s switched up its operations toward supporting employees while directly serving the needs of the community. GGET has adapted with a pantry assortment for pickup or delivery: regular and nondairy milk, rice, dried beans, whole loaves of banana bread, concentrates of the chai tea and turmeric ginger brew (so you can mix them at home), and more.
Homestate
4624 Hollywood Blvd., Los Feliz
The Tex-Mex spot has had a few iterations of service over the past few weeks, finally landing on a program that the owners feel keeps their staff the safest while providing food (and margaritas) to the public. They’ve significantly abbreviated the regular menu to just the hits, plus pantry items (eggs, milk, TP). Definitely try the Homestate at Home experience: family-size ready-made versions of house specialties like fresh flour tortillas, guacamole, salsa, shredded brisket, beans, pickled jalapeños, and most importantly, cookie dough.
Little Dom’s Deli
2128 Hillhurst Ave., Los Feliz
COVID-19 update: Open for grocery pickup and delivery.
A Friday night curbside seat under the Little Dom’s canopy right as the sun starts to dip over the hills is one of the great pleasures of Los Feliz. The Italian restaurant’s perfect Little Gem salad showered in Parmesan and a generous bowl of meatball pasta is another. Now, amid the shutdown, Little Dom’s has pivoted to takeout, with a full three-course menu for $25. Plus, it’s transformed its next-door deli into a nifty grocer with California citrus, ripe avocados, eggs, butter, and fresh vegetables available alongside fresh-baked focaccia.
COVID-19 disclaimer: We are working hard to keep our listings as up to date as possible (deliveries, outdoor dining, etc.), but given the evolving nature of local COVID-19 restrictions, we recommend double-checking the information in this guide with any business you plan on visiting. Also, please note that we have not vetted any businesses listed within our guides for their compliance with applicable safety regulations.
All Time
2040 Hillhurst Ave., Los Feliz
Los Feliz fixture All Time turns out hyperfresh California cuisine with a modern edge, and that has not changed. The restaurant has always had a fun Instagram presence, but it has been incredible to watch it pivot, innovate, and problem-solve in real time as a food business during the pandemic. In addition to keeping staff employed and local farmers supported, the owners are looking for ways to care for their community. They’ve moved to an online-only order and payment system (even for a coffee), and they’ve put together a variety of SOS kits, with basic groceries like eggs, milk, coffee, and even toilet paper, and created a helpful tab with cooking instructions on their site. And adding a bottle of wine is always an option. Order online here (we heartily recommend the hot sauce aioli breakfast sandwich and DIY brisket tacos) for curbside pickup or home delivery.
Honeybee Burgers (Closed)
1820 N. Vermont Ave., Los Feliz
If team goop were ever stuck on a deserted island, the dish staffers would dream of is an In-N-Out burger. The soft bun, the warm melty cheese, the sweet Thousand Island–style special sauce…we could go on. But there's no reason to be so dramatic, because now we can have a meatless version of our favorite fast burger with incredible sauce and eat it, too, at Honeybee Burgers. The plant-based menu at this petite sidewalk diner rivals that of the famous chain—and is far better for us (and the planet). You can have a meatless burger on a soft bun schmeared with a vegan house sauce that will win the heart of any meat lover. You can munch on crinkle sweet potato fries and crispy tater tots dipped in house-made plant-based buttermilk ranch and tangy ketchup. And if you’re really going for it (and we recommend you do), you can top it off with the Daisy—a coconut-milk-and-orange-blossom "milkshake" that tastes like a Creamsicle.
All Time
2040 Hillhurst Ave., Los Feliz
If there’s anything you must get when you come to Los Feliz, it’s the focaccia at All Time. Let’s put it this way: It’s loaded with burrata, roasted cherry tomatoes, and olive oil. It’s too good to miss, as is nearly everything you could order off the handwritten dinner menu (it changes frequently). But they know a great thing when they have it at All Time: You’ll always find the focaccia on the menu.
Bru Coffeebar
1866 N Vermont Ave, Los Feliz
This is an artisan coffee joint, serving pour-over coffee from single origin beans in a city slim on decent coffee bars.
Bru Coffeebar
1866 N. Vermont Ave., Los Feliz
This coffee place sits right where Franklin Village and Los Feliz collide, serving pour-over from single origin beans in a part of town that's slim on decent coffee bars. The staff are super knowledgeable, thanks to weekly in-house tastings and direct trade relationships with the coffee farmers. The space—all bare walls and exposed pipes—isn’t exactly cozy, but the excellent coffee and freshly baked sweet treats more than make up for it.
Kismet
4648 Hollywood Blvd., Los Feliz
On the border of Los Feliz and Hollywood, this all-day, full-service restaurant comes from chefs Sarah Hymanson and Sara Kramer, who ran the kitchen at Glasserie in NYC before stealing Angelenos’ hearts with their vegetable-centric falafel joint, Madcapra, in Grand Central Market. Teaming up with Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo (of Animal, Jon & Vinny’s, and Son of a Gun fame), they’ve successfully brought their Middle Eastern/Californian cuisine to the East Side. Be sure to order the flaky bread with labneh, preserved lemon, and honey; za’atar squash tart; Persian cucumber salad with labneh and rose water; and squid with saffron, pine nuts, and cilantro, to name a few goop favorites.
