Situated behind the Brain Dead Studios movie theater, Slammers Café feels like a hidden gem. The vibe is: good food and good coffee in your coolest friend’s backyard. The café doubles as a concession stand for the theater, so be aware if you’re visiting during showtime.

Short Stories is a breezy, contemporary spot that’s walking distance from some great 3rd Street and Fairfax restaurants. They have good service, a pool, and a solid restaurant. (The restaurant is currently hosting a pop-up which, despite its somewhat kitschy affiliation with Netflix, is quite good.)
