The Guide to Energy Healers, Intuitives & Mediums
One of the requests we field the most is recommendations for good healers—of all varieties. Below, you’ll find a rolodex of our favorite energy workers, intuitives, and mediums—individuals who are supremely gifted at moving, reading, and accessing energy, whether it’s in our bodies or from the other side. (Stay tuned for more on psi phenomena and consciousness, coming soon on goop.) One important thing to note about rates: Typically, gifted healers charge anywhere from $150 to $300 for a session, despite having quite long waitlists. Be wary of anyone who seems astronomically expensive or extortionist. While everyone needs to pay their bills, and reading requires an inordinate amount of energy, the prevailing sentiment seems to be that the gift departs when healers don’t move forward with integrity.
ENERGY HEALERS: Healers who work with energy are typically focused on removing any physical, spiritual, or emotional blockages, typically through modalities like Reiki, tapping, hypnotism, or more intensive shamanic rituals, like soul retrieval.
INTUITIVES & COACHES: The healers we have assembled here all work with a deep knowing—while some are full-on psychics, many use intuition as just one of their tools, whether it’s paired with acupuncture or astrology. In short, they can help navigate romances, tricky work situations, or purpose-of-life quandaries—while also confirming much that you already know to be true about yourself, but might have had trouble believing without outside confirmation. Some of these healers also have mediumistic tendencies, though we like them best for their skills assessing the here and now.
MEDIUMS: True mediumship, or the ability to fully access loved ones on the other side, is the highest form of intuition, and fully developed and skilled mediums can be very difficult to find (they are given information that they must translate correctly, which requires an intense amount of energy and ability). Unless you have well-established faith that our souls survive and can connect with us from the other side, set up a reading in such a way that you can absolutely trust the information. We have tested the mediums that we have included, which means that beyond coming to us highly recommended, they have also done at least one blind reading for a member of the goop team, or a friend of goop, where they didn’t know who they were going to talk to in advance of the call. Many of them also work with organizations like the Forever Family Foundation and the Windbridge Institute, who have established very strict testing parameters for inclusion in their organizations.
There are many fraudulent or under-developed mediums working today, which can have cruel implications for those who are deep in grief, so if you don’t choose to go with one of the mediums on our list, take a recommendation from a trusted friend. While a skilled medium can act as a telephone to loved ones on the other side, they should not be used as therapists: The best mediums see themselves solely as connection initiators, with the goal of giving you and your departed loved one the faith and tools to continue the conversation without them, through established signs and even dream visitations.
One other important point: It’s not really how it appears on TV, as the very best mediums are not 100-percent accurate, but typically will get about 75 to 85 percent of information correct. Some information will not land at all and some might come true down the line. Once you feel confident that a medium has delivered enough evidential information to trust the connection (initials, names, dates, etc.) then it is okay, in our world, to work with them to some extent to help them understand what they are seeing. Most mediums see signs and symbols or references to people in their lives who might be in parallel—this is what they are translating. So, to use an example from Laura Lynne Jackson, if they are shown an apple, it could mean that someone is a teacher, a baker, a New Yorker, an Apple fanatic, an Apple employee, etc. Feel comfortable asking them to re-interpret. It’s a good idea to tape your session so you can transcribe it and refer back. Keep in mind that you do not need to see a medium in-person—they can connect over the phone or through Skype.
While you'll frequently find Angie on the Hollywood party circuit—she can do lightning readings of 5-10 minutes making her great for events—she also does more intensive one-on-one Tarot sessions. Using a variety of decks and a deep understanding of numerology, Angie can tap into bigger questions around purpose, career, and love to furnish guidance and direction. Her cards are spot-on, and even when she asks, and asks again, they don't tend to deviate in their message. A former PR/marketing exec, Angie herself is light and bubbly, which means that even harder readings are served up gently.
Katie Beecher is a medical intuitive, meaning that a reading with her typically revolves around chakra imbalances and their resultant symptoms. Before a reading, she e-mails over an eerily accurate document and painting, which illustrates exactly what's going on with your body, and then talks you through what she has found, with concrete steps to take next (including vitamin and supplement recommendations, as well as tests to request from your doctor). What's nice is that her readings have a heavy dose of spiritual insight, too, which goes straight to what's going on in your emotional life. Katie has a BS in Biology and Psychology, and a MS in Counseling, with a particular interest in Carl Jung. She does a majority of her consultations by phone.
Sara Crow[email protected]
Besides being the co-founder of Floracopeia with her husband, David, Sara is also a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist with extensive training in both Eastern and Western medical approaches (she has a Masters degree in Asian Medicine). Compounding all of this is the fact that she's a very gifted intuitive, who offers remote healing sessions (i.e., over the phone) to determine where there might be spiritual, emotional, or physical blockages. Besides insight, she offers a tactical way forward, which typically also includes the use of floral tinctures and essential oils.
Astrologer Maria DeSimone uses birth charts to determine the "blueprint of your soul," i.e. your full potential in this lifetime. The "potential" part is important, as many of us face obstacles or blocks that inhibit us from moving forward into all that is possible, which is why it's also helpful that Maria has a B.A. in psychology. Maria offers one-on-one natal consultations, ongoing astrology coaching, as well as a podcast and monthly sun sign-based videos.
Ophira & Tali Edut39 W. 14th St., Flatiron | 917.830.5430
We first discovered Ophira and Tali Edut (otherwise known as the AstroTwins) through their fantastic book, Momstrology, an insightful guide to understanding and dealing with your kids through astrology; we devoured their Love Zodiac next. Their site, and own-brand imprint horoscope books and ebooks, including their popular annual horoscope guides, are all incredible resources. We met with Ophira for an individual session, where she connected by drawing up astrology charts, giving deep, unexpected insights into all parts of life.
Jennifer Freed[email protected]
While her day job is running the incredible Santa Barbara non-profit, AHA, Jennifer Freed, Ph.D is an incredible astrologer, particularly because she pairs her understanding of the stars with her background as a therapist. A reading with Freed isn't simply about destiny, it's about what the application of that destiny might look and feel like, and how to step into it. As Freed explains at the opening of every reading, astrology isn't about what must happen, it's about what is possible for you.
Suzannah Galland[email protected] | 646.883.9396
While she describes herself as a life advisor, Suzannah Galland is not your typical business coach. She is quite psychic, and uses a combination of intuition and intelligence to not only drill down into the dynamics of any situation, but what you need to do to move forward peacefully. She will profile you—and anyone you might be involved with, romantically, or work-wise—and pretty much blow your mind with her insight.
Stacey Justis[email protected] | 818.618.3315
Refreshingly laid-back and smart, Stacey Justis is equal parts straight-up psychic and intuitive life coach, which means that she can offer advice on finding your highest path and fulfilling your purpose, as well as answering those burning questions about dating, love, and work. She typically reads over the phone, though is officially based in Los Angeles. Besides her intuitive work, she is a hypnotist who does past-life regression, and she also does reiki. So ultimately, she's a one-stop spiritual shop.
Elana Kilkenny[email protected]
Elana Kilkenny does a majority of her readings in her space on Manhattan's Upper West Side—a beautiful and quiet respite from the bustle of the city. The ability to focus, free from distractions is key, as the time is essentially a life coaching session, where Elana crafts a plan based on what she intuits about where you are in life (and what your spirit guides tell her). She is highly specific, and will give you actionable advice to implement throughout the day, so the whole experience feels satisfying and grounded rather than vague and intangible.
Tony Leroy1115 Broadway, Nomad | 877.818.2700
Besides being a gifted intuitive who is particularly helpful around questions of life path and purpose, though he is very forthright about the fact that that life path might not have shortcuts. He does monthly group workshops in New York focused on everything from guided meditation to group intuitive work (often, each attendee emerges with a drawing of how Tony sees your energetic body that you may as well frame and hang), and he comes to Los Angeles about four times a year to deliver the same.
Shirley's first career was in comedy, and so she brings a certain amount of levity to her readings (in fact, she played the role of Psychic Housewife on a call-in comedy show back in the day). Her incredibly precise readings are both light-hearted and profound, and full of astute insight and advice. She's particularly great at relationship and career advice, as she will evaluate the auras of everyone who surrounds you and highlight the most favorable path forward. She typically reads in person at her space in Santa Monica, though don't be offended at the lack of eye contact as she will be reading your aura and not your face. She also reads Tarot, though she uses them to offer a loose framework, rather than a more literal description of what might be going on.
Colleen McCann[email protected]
Colleen, a former fashion stylist turned certified shamanic energy medicine practitioner (her appreciation for beautiful things is immediately apparent when you see her at work with crystals), conducts sessions on both coasts, dividing her time between NYC and LA. A session might include everything from stones to Tarot to reiki, but the end result is a life coaching session from someone who can intuitively sense everything that's at play. What’s great about Colleen is the seamless way she blends the practical with the mystical—so Reiki virgins need not be intimidated. She also does more out-of-the-book sessions like deep closet purging and intuitive business building.
Anna Miranda[email protected] | 631.346.0798
If you've never worked with a spiritual healer before, Anna Miranda is a great place to start—particularly if you don't really know what it's about, or what you need. A session with her will primarily revolve around intuitive coaching—dialing into you soul's purpose and helping you refine how to fulfill and achieve it, though she also has psychic and mediumistic abilities, so you very well may hear from people who have passed.
Tracy Lee Nash951.301.7683
Tracy Lee Nash is a Windbridge Institute medium, which means that she's one of only a handful of research mediums in the country. But that said, we actually love her for intuitive readings, as she has a beautiful way of accessing and interpreting the aura, i.e., the way you hold and view yourself, and challenges you might be encountering. Her messages from the other side are more subtle—fewer names and numbers (i.e., evidential mediumship) and more nuances of emotion and relationship, which means that she's best for more experienced sitters rather than skeptics.
Nuurvana27 Barclay St, Tribeca
Not your run-of-the-mill intuitive, certified herbalist Deganit Nuur uses acupuncture, essential oils, and cupping to open the meridians before every reading, which means that sessions are restorative on multiple levels. Her readings are spot-on—and you might not see it coming. Nuur’s personality is so easygoing and bubbly, it at first feels like you’re settling in for a light chat. But when she starts channeling, it’s ka-pow. These days, it's easier to book Nuur for a virtual session than in-person, but her growing practice of clairvoyants, aptly named Nuurvana, has one location in NYC and one in LA.
Maria Papapetros141 E. 55th St., Midtown | 212.935.4441
Maria was our in-house intuitive for the goop Shiso Psychic pop-up in NYC when we launched our latest fragrance, and needless to say, she dropped jaws with her eerily accurate readings. She is extremely calm and uses meditation at the beginning of each session to create a relaxed state before diving straight in. She also analyzes handwriting and uses Tarot to establish a framework. Keep in mind that she is a straight-up psychic who doesn't hold back, so if you'd prefer someone who soft-pedals, she probably isn't the right choice for you.
While Jill Willard is an intuitive, she doesn't see her role as that of fortune teller. Instead of telling you what's going to happen, she sees her role as helping people to balance their chakras so they can tap into their own intuition, and provide these services for themselves. She is also deeply involved in the meditation community and wrote the book, Intuitive Being.
Medical Medium Anthony William’s take on medical mysteries and complex, even controversial, health issues has changed the way we think about health. William famously gets to the bottom of his patients’ misunderstood illnesses and helps them heal using wisdom passed on to him from a divine voice he calls Spirit. The healing power of food almost always plays a central role, which is why he wrote the #1 New York Times bestselling follow-up Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods: Save Yourself and the Ones You Love with the Hidden Healing Powers of Fruits & Vegetables to his first bestselling book, Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal. While he still takes appointments, his waiting list is a mile-long; that said, most of his natural and diet-specific protocols are outlined in his books.
