One Beauty Bag, Two Weeks in Sydney for My Best Friend’s Wedding

Having Kelly Faulds in your wedding party means you get some amazing beauty tips along with the laid-back joie de vivre she brings to any gathering. As goop’s senior director of buying and wholesale for beauty and wellness, Faulds didn’t hold back when she packed for her best friend’s destination wedding in Sydney. “Traveling to Australia from LA is a lot—so we wanted to make the most of the trip,” says Faulds.
Along with wedding-day makeup, she brought skin-care treats for her fellow bridesmaids, hair essentials (including her favorite blow-dryer), and more. “The bride gave us full flexibility on our makeup,” she says. “I went with fresh, dewy gold and peachy tones.” Somehow she managed to pack everything for the trip into a single bag. “I’m strategic,” she says. “I only packed what works and what I actually use.”
The Basics
Between a bachelorette boat day, bridesmaid get-togethers, and days spent sightseeing, Faulds focused on keeping her skin looking fresh and dewy—and of course brought lots of sunscreen. “I keep my routine consistent even when I’m traveling,” she says. “Otherwise my skin feels totally out of whack.”

Destination-Wedding Dressing: Easy Essentials
Faulds brought dresses for everything from casual lunches to the rehearsal dinner. “I love pieces you can dress up or down,” she says. “This blue linen romper works for a fancy dinner out with heels and jewelry; then you can pair it with sneakers for art museums—or touring the Sydney Opera House,” she says. “The breezy black mini is perfect for something really special like the rehearsal dinner, but it’s great with flat sandals and a cardigan for strolling around the city center. When I wasn’t dressing up, I pretty much lived in my swimsuit, hats, and a cover-up.”
The Wedding
To guarantee a good hair day on the day of the wedding, Faulds washed and blew out her hair the day before. “I have naturally curly, frizzy hair, so styling it the day before is my trick to keep it shiny and smooth the next day.”
