MY SISTERS
Tata Harper and Her Sisters’ Favorites for Skin, Hair, and Makeup
Family is everything in Tata Harper’s close-knit clan—but skin care is a close second. “Growing up in Colombia, beauty was a tradition in my family,” says Harper, whose eponymous skin-care line not only helped found the clean beauty movement but brought to it a new level of chicness, luxury, and efficacy. “We were all deeply influenced by my grandmother’s love for natural remedies and skin-care rituals and often prepared scrubs and masks together using ingredients from our farm.” Harper is the oldest of three sisters; Cuca Guzman (the middle sister) and Carolina Botero (the youngest) caught the beauty bug, too—which naturally kicked further into gear when Harper started her line. “Witnessing my journey, my sisters saw firsthand the importance of using pure, high-quality ingredients and the impact of clean, organic beauty routines,” she says. So the three continue to maintain their family traditions and the lessons their grandmother taught them about beauty, wellness, and self-care.

BOTERO’S PORE-MINIMIZING SCRUB
Harper lives in Connecticut with her three children (with frequent trips to the Vermont farm where many of the products are made), while Guzman is a financial consultant and mom of two in Panama. Botero lives in Brooklyn and works on the digital side of the Tata Harper business. “But we make a concerted effort to be together as much as possible,” says Harper. “We prioritize family during the holidays, but we also carve out time every summer for extended family gatherings. Carolina and I are lucky enough to see each other much more frequently, but the three of us just have an incredible bond.”
The sisters’ sense of style diverges wildly. You might find Harper in Birkenstocks, Elder Statesman cashmere, and a stack of Foundrae rings, while Guzman veers more toward statement dresses from Ulla Johnson and high heels and Botero loves an animal-print Isabel Marant.
All converge in their devotion to clean beauty. “We’re proud to be part of a movement that prioritizes health, sustainability, and transparency in the beauty industry,” says Harper. Their stepfather’s serious cancer scare was a pivotal moment for all of them. “It made us hyperaware of what’s at stake,” she says.
NO COMPROMISES
If clean is a nonnegotiable, so is efficacy. “None of us compromise on results,” says Harper. “Or on texture, color, scent, packaging—anything.” Though they have different skin types, their beauty essentials center around the element they all consider most key: moisturizing.
“I have dry skin. It can feel tight and can be prone to flakiness and irritation,” says Harper. “Carolina has oily skin, and Cuca is dry like me, even though she lives in a very humid environment. So we all need different approaches to achieve the same thing: fresh, plump, healthy-looking, moisturized skin.”
HARPER’S FAVORITES FOR DRY SKIN
Harper focuses on deep hydration and supporting the skin’s natural barrier—and a flick of inky-black mascara.
GUZMAN’S ESSENTIALS FOR DRY SKIN
Despite the humid air in Panama, Guzman still needs hydration, so she favors products that lock in moisture without a heavy feel. Accordingly, she goes through lots of Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence and Hydrating Floral Mask—the combination hydrates deeply to revitalize her dry skin, even when it’s sticky out.
She touches up her skin with the creamy concealer-meets-foundation in Fara Homidi’s face compact, then, for a sun-kissed glow, dots goop’s antioxidant bronzer on the high points of her face. She finishes the look with a dewy (and long-lasting) swipe of color from Homidi’s lip compact.
BOTERO’S MUST-HAVES FOR OILY SKIN
For a work-then-out-to-dinner-later day in Brooklyn, Botero gets her skin in shape first. She starts with a pore-refining scrub using goop’s Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator (it’s made with both physical and chemical exfoliants to sweep away dead skin cells and reveal fresh, glowing skin). She moisturizes with Tata Harper Clarifying Moisturizer, which really hydrates as it balances and mattifies skin.
With her skin glowing and moisturized, Botero blends goop’s Colorblur Glow Balm blush in Afterglow at the apples of her cheeks, then smooths on Saie’s hydrating glossy lip oil in Dip.
HAIR
The sisters are all clean with their hair routines as well. Again, they make no compromises. “Using clean ingredients is not just a trend for us; it’s a lifestyle choice that reflects our dedication to sustainability and wellness,” says Harper. “And the hair products have gotten so good.” She herself loves ROZ, the line from top LA stylist and Mare Salon owner Mara Roszak. “Her shampoo is amazing for my thick, wavy hair, and her conditioner is my favorite: It’s hydrating, smoothing, and shine-enhancing. And I’m obsessed with La Bonne Brosse N.03.”
Guzman focuses on keeping her thick blonde hair bright. She starts with goop’s preshampoo serum for shine and texture, then shampoos with the Hydrating Cream Hairbath from Innersense and finishes with the brand’s Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner to nourish and brighten.
Botero plays up her naturally wavy hair with a salt-scrub shampoo and a double bout of conditioning, one in the shower and the second as a leave-in styler.
