She started out as a makeup artist and evolved into an on-air beauty expert for TLC, and only then did Lesley Thornton (above) get super interested in skin. After becoming an aesthetician, she ran her own LA studio for nine years—and, along the way, fell in love with clean products.

“I wanted to create essentials that addressed the real needs of everyday people,” says Thornton, who founded Klur in 2014. “It needed to be simple, sustainable, and inclusive, too. I started by focusing on the women in my neighborhood, addressing their skin conditions and connecting with them. For me, it’s all about human connection—taking wellness out of the spa and into daily life.”

Made with skin-soothing botanicals, protective antioxidants, and even sustainable food waste, Klur is engineered to help repair and nourish skin for seriously glowifying effects (one look at Thornton’s skin and we were convinced).

Thornton’s days are long, so her evenings are sacred: “I take a few precious hours dedicated mostly to me,” she says.

6 p.m.

I consciously start shifting from work mode to self-care mode. I take at least 30 minutes for a nap or just to sip soothing tea to melt away the remnants of the day.

I really enjoy what’s next: the gym. It feels like a sanctuary for my body and my mind. I go three or four times a week. I start with 30 minutes of incline walking, do 15 minutes of weight training, and go back to the treadmill for 30 minutes at varying incline levels.

I spend some time in the infrared sauna there—it’s so rejuvenating. I rub two or three drops of peppermint essential oil between my hands and inhale deeply or put a few drops on a wet towel and place it on my chest. It really enhances the experience for me—I feel so refreshed afterward.

I shower at the gym. I bring all my body products in travel sizes to make my postworkout routine as spalike as I can. I bring this dry brush and use it right before showering to help get my energy flowing, detoxify, and gently exfoliate my skin.

I smooth on this body oil (I bring it in a mini bottle) while I’m in the shower. It leaves my skin so soft.

Home—and time for my skin. I don’t cleanse my face in the mornings—just a splash of water or face mist, as excessive cleansing leaves my skin feeling parched—but because I wear sunscreen and makeup, I make sure to do a really thorough cleanse at night. My nighttime skin ritual is by far my favorite part of the day.

I take off my makeup with micellar water, then double cleanse with MARA cleansing oil and my gel cleanser.

Next, I apply my Sculpture + A, a retinol cream made with powerful ingredients like lactic acid, firming peptides, and vitamin A, which all help repair aging skin.

After the Sculpture + A, I work in some face oil for extra moisture.

I find joy in slow-cooking meals, so I prepare my food for the day either in a Crock-Pot or on low heat in the oven every morning. So dinner might be leftover lunch, a bowl of cooked greens, some salmon or chicken and sweet potatoes, or a comforting soup or stew. I really enjoy putting a lot of effort into my cooking and find it so therapeutic.

9:30 p.m.

I love to sleep, and a nice ambience just adds to my enjoyment. So I turn on my diffuser—right now I use vitruvi Dusk oil in it—then smooth my body oil on my hands for a little extra moisture and pampering.

I drink Moon Juice Magnesi-Om and scroll through social media. It tastes amazing and helps me settle in for the night. If I’m feeling restless—or just want a really good night of sleep—I reach for Knock Me Out.

I use the NuFACE device right before bed for 15 to 20 minutes. The red light helps improve facial contour, firmness, and tone. It really maximizes the effects of all my skin-care steps. I’ve been doing it for three years, and I’ve noticed a difference in my skin and its overall glow.
