An At-Home Glow-Bomb Facial from a Top NYC Pro
“Glow bomb” is how clients describe the bespoke facials at SoHo’s Ställe Studios. Founder and skin magician Elizabeth Grace Hand—whose booked-up schedule is a testament to her incredible skill—has all the secrets behind the glow. If you can’t make it in for an exceptional skin-reviving facial with Hand—a treatment at the very top of our wish lists—here’s how to approximate one of her facials step by step.
“The secret is nothing’s overly complicated,” she says. “Just follow the steps—they’re easy—and use the most nourishing, moisturizing products you can find. You’ll see incredible results.”
Step 1: Double Cleanse
“It takes longer than you think to really cleanse the skin, so don’t rush,” says Hand.
Cleanse 1
Hand likes to apply the cleanser and leave it on for a few minutes to emulsify the oil. “I love the de Mamiel cleansing balm because it’s full of hydrating ingredients to nourish the skin,” she says. “Then it’s got natural surfactants to melt away all traces of dirt, debris, makeup, and sunscreen.”
Cleanse 2
Use a warm washcloth to wipe away the first cleanse and follow it with a gentle water-based face wash.

Step 2: Exfoliate Away Dull, Rough Skin
“I love exfoliating treatments for their brightening and retexturizing benefits,” says Hand. “This Skin Design London peel is chock-full of glycolic and lactic acids—two ingredients I love and use constantly in my treatments.” To take your treatment to the next level, use a steamer as you exfoliate. Hand loves the Dr. Dennis Gross one: “Keep it on for 10 minutes or less for maximum dewiness,” she says.
Tip: Hand suggests keeping a stash of these peels on hand. “I use these only once a week because they’re powerful and work overnight,” she says. “They’re fantastic for anyone who is super limited on time—they brighten, wipe away dull skin cells, and require zero removal. You just swipe one on and go to bed and you wake up looking like a new person.”
Step 3: Lift and Sculpt with Face Oil
Take 10 to 20 minutes to massage your face—Hand swears by it. “Pretty much every skin type benefits from facial massage,” she says. “It can do amazing things: help boost circulation, stimulate lymphatic drainage, depuff, brighten, and sculpt. Plus, it feels incredibly relaxing, which can help refresh and calm a dull complexion. I love to use this oil because it’s so soothing and doesn’t have any pore-clogging ingredients, so it’s great for all skin types, including blemish-prone.”
Step 4: Nourish with a Mask
“The Augustinus Bader face mask is my all-time favorite mask,” says Hand. “It not only soothes redness; it also cools and moisturizes skin postmassage.”
Tip: Apply the mask with a brush. “The flat bristles give a smooth, even application, so you avoid wasting product,” says Hand. “And the softness makes it feel more like a luxurious in-spa experience.”
Step 5: Supercharge with LED Light
“LED is one of the best things you can do for your skin and something I incorporate into almost every one of my treatments,” she says. Red light is designed to help stimulate collagen, while blue light is aimed at breakouts.
Step 6: Treat with Serum
Serums flood the skin with concentrated active ingredients to target everything from dullness and blemishes to texture and dryness. Hand especially loves the Furtuna Skin and Emma Lewisham serums. “They’re my secret weapons to give skin that extra glow,” she says. “The Furtuna soothes and depuffs with olive leaf water and chicory, while the Emma Lewisham hydrates and brightens with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide.”
Tip: “If you’re suffering from really dry skin, apply a hydrophilic serum, like Augustinus Bader’s The Serum, before following with an occlusive product, like the balm from Monastery,” says Hand. “It really works to keep skin moisturized and plump.”
Step 7: Moisturize Like You Mean It
Seal it all in with moisture on eyes, lips, and face—the goal is hydrated, supple skin. “I joke with my team that I want all my clients to be so hydrated and dewy that when they leave, there’s a trail of slime behind them like a snail,” says Hand.
Step 8: Finish with Sunscreen, Always
“One of the steps people miss is daily SPF,” says Hand. “Whether you’re going outside or sitting inside by a window, you always need it. I love this one for its silky texture and zero cast.”
