Clean Swap: Our New Science
Editor’s Great-Skin Routine

When Denise John, goop’s new senior science editor, started a couple months ago, she was psyched to try some new things from the goop shop. John has a doctorate in reproductive neuroendocrinology and spends her days researching health conditions for goop PhD, an incredibly comprehensive resource covering conventional and unconventional therapies, treatments, and research. She had already been using clean products before starting at goop. “But I wasn’t seeing results,” says John. Now, a few months into her new routine, John sees an enormous difference in her skin. “I’m so happy to have found things that really work,” she says. “I’m good about eating healthily and getting nourishment from the inside, but now that I’m finally getting the proper treatment on the outside, my skin feels less dull, as well as super moisturized and so much brighter.”

MY NEW FAVORITES FOR FACE

    Glow Booster

“I’ve definitely seen some brightening since I’ve started using this, and I think it’s helped with a few little breakouts, too. I love the evenness I’m seeing in my skin.”

    Ultimate Face Moisturizer

“This has a really nice texture: I could use a whole bunch of it or as little as I want, and it just feels good on my skin. It sinks in well and gives me a little glow. I’ve been wearing it for the last few weeks, and my skin definitely feels more moisturized.”

    The Most Blendable Sunscreen

“I’ve always used mineral sunscreen, but I like this one best. It smells better and feels better going on my skin than other formulas I’ve tried, and it gives a little sheen, too. It’s got the perfect amount of tint and blends in so well. Some tinted sunscreens can have more of a foundation look, but this one just looks like my skin.”

    Ultramoisturizing Eye Mask

“Now I see what all the talk is about! These are so easy to place around my eyes, and after fifteen minutes, they do exactly what they say they’re going to do: completely hydrate my under-eyes. My skin feels soft and looks rejuvenated. I will definitely be using these once a week!”

MY NEW BODY ROUTINE

  1. 1

    Dry Brush

“I use this most nights before getting in the shower or bath. It feels so good—my husband laughs at me because my face goes into zen mode. I follow the directions to a T, starting with my feet and working upward. I love it. It’s my wind-down time. I brush, think about my body, and feel more relaxed. And it definitely exfoliates: My skin is much softer.”

    Dream Body Cream

“I have very dry skin, and before, I would have to combine a couple lotions with other creams to get enough moisture. But not with this body butter—it’s so moisturizing. It’s really good. The texture is perfect, and it never leaves a film. Plus, it smells great—subtle, but so good.”

    Hint of Glow

“I’ve tried other luminizers, and they’ve been too shimmery or so subtle you have to keep rubbing them in. I’m shocked at how much I love this one: I put it on my collarbones and arms, and I can’t wait to use some on my legs when it gets a little warmer. I love how it catches the light in this super natural way.”
