CAP Beauty

Dusts, Potions, and Skin Care
(in the West Village)

CAP Beauty

CAP stands for “clean and pure,” which describes everything you’ll find at this tightly curated shop in the West Village. The gang’s all here as far as clean beauty brands go—see below for some of our favorite products. CAP is also known for excellent facials (you can book sixty or ninety minutes): The Cap Classic is a heavenly mashup of light extractions, exfoliation, and detoxifying face massage that leaves skin energized and glowy; the Purifying Facial includes the same deluxe treatments, but the aesthetician gears the session toward helping clear congestion; and the Mama’s Signature Facial is customized for pregnant and nursing moms to help soothe, balance, and revitalize skin.

OG Clean Beauty Boutique

Shen Beauty

Shen Beauty

Run by one of the most curious, energetic minds in the beauty business, this OG clean beauty boutique is famous for sleuthing out next-big-thing brands, so shopping here is always a thrill. Everything here is super clean and nontoxic, too, including goop’s own line of clean skin care and some of our favorites, like May Lindstrom, Pai Skincare, and RMS Beauty. But the brilliant secret is the spa treatments: Ayurvedic massages, brow shaping, hair removal, and the ultimate: a skin-transforming facial. The Signature treatment is an amazing and customizable detox with your choice of LED light, dermaplaning, peels, ZIIP current, and microdermabrasion. Add on the Revealing Eye Therapy, which uses icicles to soothe, smooth, and totally awaken your undereye area.

Heavenly Scalp Massage

Rob Peetoom

Rob Peetoom

Ever gotten a scalp massage so wondrously pampering that when it’s not lulling you to sleep right there in the chair, it’s giving you goosebumps? We keep coming back for the Hairscalp Massage Ritual here. It’s an hour-long session in which you’re comfortably supine (the deluxe treatment chair plays a considerable role, allowing you to fully recline), your head in a cloud of warm steam as the hairstylist massages, caresses, kneads, and works your scalp. (Though it’s anecdotal, many top hairstylists say massaging the scalp is key for hair health.) The salon’s other services are pretty exceptional, too: shiny blowouts, haircuts, as well as brow shaping, lash tinting, and makeup. Whether you want a no-makeup makeup touch-up or something full-on glamorous, the makeup artists work with Ilia, a goop favorite.

  • Miracle Holistic Spa

    Miracle Holistic Spa

    Naturopathica

Barbara Close studied therapeutic herbal therapies and integrative medicine before founding Naturopathica—so it’s equal parts wellness center and spa. In front, there’s an apothecary-like boutique hung with giant glass tincture dispensers where you can sample the brand’s gorgeous, botanical-spiked skin care; health-supporting teas; and, of course, said tinctures. There’s a tonic bar serving cold-pressed juices, kombucha (the grapefruit-mint flavor—omg), and frothy herbal lattes. The spa itself is a dimly lit, atmospheric sanctuary that’s bigger than it looks from the outside with a plush consultation space, a sound-bath alcove, and absolutely incredible massages, facials, and scalp treatments. The Blue Eucalyptus Energizing Massage incorporates deep-tissue and acupressure techniques; the Bio-Energy Lift Facial helps revitalize skin from environmental damage, smooth lines, and plump with nourishing sea fern extracts and a special copper-amino-acid complex; and the Nirvana Stress Relief Massage focuses on breaking up tension: You get a beautiful arm and hand massage to soothe computer-addled muscles, as well as a full-body deep-tissue massage—the ultimate recharge.

  • Cupping, Gua Sha, and More for Brilliant Skin

Cupping, Gua Sha, and More for Brilliant Skin

    Shellie Goldstein Acupuncture

If you’ve ever had a session here, you know how smooth, revived, and supple your skin can feel afterward. Licensed acupuncturist Shellie Goldstein is the brilliant founder (there’s a Hamptons location, too; email [email protected] for scheduling), and her treatments make a case for the incredible skin-enhancing—and mind-soothing—benefits of nonsurgical therapies. Choose from facial cupping* (small suction cups support circulation and lymphatic drainage for a sculpting effect), gua sha* (the aesthetician sweeps a flat tool made of crystal over the face to ease tension and support lymphatic drainage for a lifting, smoothing, skin-energizing effect), microcurrent face-lift (an incredible session that helps lift, tone, and sculpt the face using an electrical current—it’s a Regi exclusive), and bespoke treatments that stack multiple therapies into one mega skin-smoothing session.

*Talk to your doctor before trying.

  • Dreamy Skin-Care Atelier

    Dreamy Skin-Care Atelier

    SB Skin

Sunlight streams through the windows at this airy studio that feels more like your best friend’s living room than a business in the middle of the Flatiron district. Serene atmosphere aside, the Microcurrent Facial + Body Treatment is a particularly skin-rejuvenating and luxurious one. In the same way a great workout conditions your body, microcurrent uses a targeted electrical current to sculpt, tighten, and firm your face—and that’s on top of face massage and smoothing LED light therapy in the same session. At the same time, you also get something of an actual workout: the aesthetician affixes “quantum body pads” to you, prompting passive muscle contractions to help tone the body.

  • Fantastic Laser Hair Removal

    Fantastic Laser Hair Removal

Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal

We feel particularly confident about this place, which lives and breathes hair removal. Whether you’re targeting your bikini line, face, abdomen, underarms, neck, or anywhere else, Romeo & Juliette has lasers to treat every skin type (different skin tones require different wavelengths of light to safely and effectively remove hair) and hair texture, plus the salon makes a point of calling out its services for transgender clients as a way to accelerate hair removal as they go through hormone-replacement therapy.

  • Detoxifying Infrared Sauna

    Detoxifying Infrared Sauna

    HigherDOSE Wall Street

This spa has somehow managed to make sweating in an infrared sauna sexy. You get a spacious personal sauna kitted out with music and even chromatherapy (everybody looks better in a red-tinted light) that combines near-, mid-, and far-infrared waves to heat the body from the inside out, resulting in a major detoxification sweat. Rinse off in the shower afterward, and start the day utterly refreshed.

  • Special-Occasion Hair (and More)

    Special-Occasion Hair (and More)

    Butterfly Studio Salon

You walk a little differently leaving Butterfly, a sleek oasis of a salon in the Flatiron district where they’re excellent at conjuring the kind of special-occasion hair (for weddings, dinner parties, black-tie affairs, etc.) that’s more breezily gorgeous than unimaginatively “fancy.” Stylists have been known to add an ingenious last-second flourish—a barrette, a wayward bobby pin—to a twisty updo that somehow brings it all together in a way you just wouldn’t think of standing in front of the mirror at home. (If you don’t have a fete in your evening plans, the cuts, colors, extensions, and deep-conditioning treatments are also amazing.)

  • Massage—for Your Face

    Massage—for Your Face

    FaceLove

If you’ve never had a massage dedicated to relaxing the muscles in your jaw, forehead, scalp, and entire face…it’s insanely relaxing. FaceLove’s three signature treatments—FrenchLove, PureLove, and WholeLove—all focus on massage, exercise, and acupressure to stimulate circulation and release inflammation. Not only will a clenched jaw or furrowed forehead feel miraculously released but you’ll emerge looking pretty amazing, too.

  • Energetic Facials

    Energetic Facials

    Take Care

Sadie Adams’s unique therapeutic approach is designed to help clients tease out energy and vitality from within. Her technique stems from her studies in anatomy at the School for Body-Mind Centering and in Ayurveda and yoga therapy at the Ayurvedic Institute. After founding Take Care Face & Body in New York City, she opened a second location, Take Care Center for Body Mind Regeneration, in Venice, California. Adams combines science, ancient wisdom, and intuitive awareness to support physical and spiritual healing. Her therapies include microcurrent facials, a restorative therapy that stimulates marma points in your face, promoting deep relaxation and healing throughout your entire body.
