Five-Second Skin Pick-Me-Up
When makeup artist Gucci Westman promised us she had come up with something that could make us look as if we’d just had a facial—and that we could do it ourselves in under five seconds—we were skeptical. But her new Peau de Sante highlighting cream (you can get it only on goop) is that perfect one-and-done, works-on-every-skin-tone, impossible-to-mess-up no-makeup makeup that’s both flattering and super easy. Here, how to use it to brighten your day, your face, and your mood—it’s brilliant pre-Zoom meeting, but also incredible just to keep on the counter to cheer yourself up when you need it.
“I wanted to make a brightening boost—I was working on it long before we were all quarantined inside, but it turns out to address something we could all use right now,” says the Westman Atelier founder and mom of three.
“Think of it as your all-in-one,” Westman says of the does-everything cream. “It’s going to give you instant warmth, color, and definition, but it’s also going to subtly plump the skin: Hyaluronic acid helps smooth, while organic jojoba oil adds extra moisture and luminosity.” The exclusive-to-goop shade is a new iteration of Westman’s Super Loaded line of lit-from-within highlighters. “It’s this brightening mix of soft, warm rose tones that are just beautiful on all complexions,” she says.
The Five-Second Magic
This trick works just as well over bare, just moisturized skin as it does over tinted moisturizer or foundation. Start with a brush, Westman says. “Any cream disperses most naturally with a brush—I think my Blender Brush creates the best barely there finish, but I’m partial!” she says. “In a pinch, you can definitely tap the product along your cheeks and eyelids with your fingers, but if you’ve got a brush, it’s even easier: Sweep the cream up the cheeks, then swish it across your eyelids and onto your cheekbones for an ethereal highlight. It’s also super pretty swirled over the tops of cheekbones and at the inner corners of the eyes.”
To go further, you can add concealer or foundation (Westman’s Vital Skin Foundation Stick functions as both), only where you need it. “You can quickly blur away dark circles or redness around the nose,” she says. “Again, I love a brush, but you can also use your fingers.” Westman also layers the shade with a bronzy highlighter, like her Super Loaded in Peau de Soleil, or with blush. “If you love our Baby Cheeks in Petal, you’ll love this shade, too—they’re the perfect rosy duo together,” she says.
