A Natural No-Makeup Makeup Routine (from GP’s Makeup Artist)

We don’t see GP in makeup too often: She rarely wears it to the office unless she’s got interviews or events on the schedule. When she does, she still manages to look naturally, glowily, like herself. That looks is usually thanks in great part to makeup artist Georgie Eisdell, who shares the essentials of GP’s clean makeup routine, from the glow-inducing first step to the faintly shimmering finishing touch.

SKIN CARE

“Before we do any makeup, GP smooths her skin with Microderm to get maximum glow. I start by massaging face oil into her skin with my fingers, then, to really get all that goodness to penetrate further into the skin, I use a face roller in an upward motion to lift, depuff, and firm the skin. Last, I smooth on a little day moisturizer to get her skin beautifully hydrated and prepared for makeup.”

FOUNDATION AND CONCEALER

“Using a sponge (you can also use your fingers), I apply dots of Beautycounter Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation to the high points of her face and blend it out to even out the skin tone. I like to add a little extra in the T-zone for more coverage if you need it. I go in and conceal any spots or undereye darkness with concealer. I focus the concealer only on the inner corner of the eye, then blend it outward, rather than adding concealer all the way under the eye—no one is dark all along their under-eyes, just in spots.”

POWDER

“I dust GP’s face with loose powder, using a large powder brush to set the base and take the edge off the shine.”

GLOW

“I love the Rose Quartz Luminizer from KORA on the cheekbones—it gives a gorgeous glow. You can also use a little of this at the brow bone and the top of your Cupid’s bow for an added highlight.”

EYES

“I love a gorgeous, sexy eye. For this sort of look, I keep the shadow on the lids only, and I love the Necessary palette from Ilia. I layer Westman Atelier mascara on both the top and bottom lashes, making sure to push the mascara wand right into the lash line and wiggle it out to the tip of the lash to create fluffy lashes and coat them thoroughly.”

BLUSH AND BRONZER

“Cream blush gives you hydration to keep the skin looking young and fresh, and that pop of color that makes us feel—and look—like we’re at the beach with a cocktail in our hand. I love Jillian Dempsey’s cheek tints. Then, to add some more shape and color, I brush baked bronzer from W3ll People along the cheekbones, temples, and jawline and a light wash over the rest of her face for that just-back-from-the-Bahamas glow.”

LIPS

“I love a nude lip or a good stain for summer. For this look, I used RMS Lip2Cheek, but if you want something brighter, I also love Kjaer Weis’s lip tint in Lover’s Choice as a summery stain.”
