MARA ROSZAK
| founder of RŌZ, co-owner of Mare Salon, and celebrity hairstylist
Mornings look a little different these days for top hairstylist Mara Roszak. The mother of two (she recently welcomed baby Bernadette in February, joining her five-year-old-son Elio) is not only the most sought-after celebrity hairstylist in the game—her signature gorgeousness is seen on Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana, and more—but she also has her own dreamy hair care company RŌZ, which recently debuted in Sephora. Oh and did we mention she also co-owns chic Mare Salon in West Hollywood? “There’s never a dull day,” she laughs.
Her days are busy, to say the least, but between developing the chicest hair essentials on the planet (truly, we want everything), and prepping her clients for the Oscars, she somehow makes it all look effortless. “I try to take little moments to myself—even a brief flutter in the day—to keep myself grounded,” she says. Her routine is full of hydration, nourishing skin pick-me-ups, and unsurprisingly, great hair day tips.
6 a.m.
I’m not normally a morning person but the earlier I get up, the more calm the day is. I’m navigating a new schedule with my new baby Bernadette—she usually wakes up around this time for me to feed her.
6:30 a.m.
After I feed Bernie, she takes a little nap in my arms and we spend some nice quiet time in bed cuddling. It’s kind of a nice moment for just us two to have quality time together.
7:15 a.m.
My son Elio wakes up around this time and I’ll get out of bed and wash my face with the gorgeous cleansing balm from De Mamiel to wake up my skin. Then I head to the kitchen.

7:30 a.m.
I always have a million drinks to start the day—I’ve really been trying to make sure I’m staying hydrated. I’ll start with a coffee and nutrient-rich smoothie with berries, banana, kale, and macadamia milk for breakfast. Elio has some of my smoothie but usually requests pancakes or cereal, too. Then I’ll make myself an ice water with Armra’s colostrum. I’m also really into Moon Juice—the founder sent me some great products to try. I like to mix a little tonic with their Ting powder for an extra boost of energy.

8:30 a.m.
I take a quick shower—I like to shower in the morning because it gives my hair the best advantage for a great air dry. Being postpartum, my hair tends to feel super dry so I’m really focused on keeping it hydrated. Twice a week, if I have a few extra minutes, I like to apply my Willow Glen oil as a nourishing reset for my hair—I let my hair soak up all the goodness before I wash my hair.
8:45 a.m.
After I get out of the shower, I wrap my hair in a hair towel before applying my Milk Hair Serum and styling oil to smooth and hydrate my hair. I also dab the teeniest bit of my Evergreen styling cream to tame any flyaways. I don’t have a lot of time these days for blowouts so I’m really leaning into my natural, undone, wavy texture.
If I don’t have time to shower in the morning, I’ll do my wash routine at night and instead give my natural waves a quick zhuzh with this little curl reviving trick.

I combine a few pumps of the Milk Hair Serum in a spray bottle filled with water and spritz it throughout my hair until it’s damp.
I scrunch my curls throughout with my hands. Then I add two more pumps of the hair serum to my hands, and apply it to my face-framing front pieces, twisting them around my fingers to help define.
Because hair tends to get a little flat on day two, I’ll spray some Root Lift spray at my roots and use clips to set them while I let my hair air dry.
8:55 a.m.
For my skincare, I keep it simple and moisturizing. I was gifted the most beautiful products from De Mamiel by my friend right after I had Bernie and I’m absolutely in love with them. This serum leaves me feeling refreshed and definitely keeps my skin hydrated and beautiful. I’ll follow it with Monastery’s creamy oil blend. I’ve been a big fan of this oil for a while and it’s a total luxury. It smells amazing, nourishes my skin, and leaves me with the most beautiful glow. If I need something a bit more heavy duty, I’ll reach for this flower balm also by Monastery—it makes such a difference in my skin.
9:00 a.m.
I don’t wear a ton of makeup but if I need to feel a little extra put together, I’ll apply a tinted serum with SPF all over for some sheer coverage. Then I swipe on a little mascara. This ILIA one has become my go-to, it’s buildable, quick, and easy, and lifts and holds my lashes. I’ll finish with Fara Homidi’s lip liner and lip palette—I’ll dab a touch of the color to my cheeks too for a natural flush.
9:30 a.m.
I balance my RŌZ schedule with my hairdressing schedule—depending on the day I could be going into the office, working in the salon, or prepping one of my clients for the red carpet. I’m pumping throughout the day so no matter where I’m headed, I bring my Elvie pump with me. On Tuesdays and Thursdays when I go into the office, I’m working on new product development, product testing, marketing initiatives—it’s really so fun to be with my team at the office.
If I’m working with clients, I make sure my kit is prepped with my core hair essentials, brushes, tools, clips, and more before heading out the door. I test all of my products on myself (and my clients) so I’m always carrying around little samples of newness, too.
