Best Salon for Beachy Texture
It can take years of trial and error to find a go-to spot for cuts, facials, brows, and makeup, so discovering a salon that offers all four is kind of like hitting the beauty jackpot. Striiike in Beverly Hills is owned by three sisters: Kristie, Ashley, and Jenn Streicher. Each has a specific beauty talent: Jenn is an incredible makeup artist, Ashley is a hairstyling genius, and Kristie (aka the eyebrow whisperer) has a cult following for her famous feathered-brow technique. Our favorite offering (of many): The New Wave, a brilliant hair treatment that gives you permanent, effortless wind-whipped beach waves, as if you’ve whiled away the day being tossed around in the surf.

This spot is famous for its custom-made, futuristic-looking personal-pod infrared saunas. Inside one, you lie on a bed of jade stones as your body is bathed in red infrared light, but your head stays outside the pod during the entire forty-minute session (a custom blend of aromatherapeutic oils is diffused into the surrounding air). Beyond the saunas, the lymphatic compression massage and a machine called a Magnesphere—which aims to improve your balance and sleep by way of deep relaxation—are really worth exploring.
Base Coat Nail Salon
This jewel-box WeHo salon is swathed in banana-leaf-printed wallpaper, with a neon sign at the entrance that reads “Treat Yo Self.” Manicures and pedicures use the in-house line of eight-free polishes and ten-free gels, and all are finished with a deep oil treatment, which leaves your hands and feet totally moisturized and super soft.
The stressed-out, work-weary, and overloaded come to Inner Health for a thoroughly rejuvenating total-body detox. Choose from colonics, cleansing lymphatic massage (a gentle treatment designed to support circulation and balance in the body), and infrared saunas (infrared light waves heat the body from the inside out, spurring a detoxification sweat). You walk out feeling unburdened and ready to face the week.
The main event at this Mar Vista studio is the float pods, personal sensory deprivation tanks you book for an hour at a time. You can also book infrared sauna sessions in either thirty-minute or one-hour increments—we like the full hour, which comes with an in-room shower. The lighting in the private rooms can be adjusted to pitch-black, and the saunas themselves are high-tech enough to connect to a playlist on your phone via Bluetooth. If it’s a boost you’re in need of, the IV therapy—intravenous vitamin drips that a naturopathic doctor helped create—delivers vitamins, minerals, and amino acids into the bloodstream. There’s a small parking lot in the back and really easy street parking at night.
Tonic Wellness Boutique
Sierra Leone–born Posetta Koujou became obsessed with health and wellness when a childhood injury left her bedridden. After moving to Los Angeles, she became a certified hypnotherapist and opened Tonic, a wellness boutique known for its rejuvenating therapies for mind and body. Don’t underestimate the power of cryotherapy (immersion in frigid temperatures), as well as lymphatic massages and infrared sauna sessions. (Another excellent option is The Tonic 333 Signature Signature treatment, a mashup of all three: three minutes of cryotherapy, twenty minutes of lymphatic drainage, and thirty minutes in the infrared sauna.) Many of the treatments work synergistically to detox and stimulate—you emerge feeling awake, lighter, and energized.
Face Place LA
Don’t expect soft music and gentle massage protocols here. Face Place, whose minimalist aesthetic fits its no-nonsense treatment approach, takes a more clinical tack to skin care. The Signature Facial combines a round of extractions with oxygen therapy and pore-tightening galvanic current. Our other favorites: The Vitamin C Peel is excellent for softening hyperpigmentation, and the Enzyme Peel is superbly brightening.
Surya Spa is one of only a handful of places to get Panchakarma treatment in the country, and the house-made organic food and authentic Panchakarma treatments reach far beyond what you’ll find in a traditional wellness spa. (If you think you might have parasites, this is your spot.) Surya involves a pretty intense level of commitment that could be a bit out of reach unless you have the vacation time and budget: It requires three to four hours a day, for three, five, or seven days. You can also just book a one-off massage, but we recommend the full week, though it’s tough, as you have to abide by the very ascetic menu that they prescribe. The results—better skin, considerable weight loss—speak for themselves. And Surya is not just a wonderful detox resource; mothers, babies and mothers-to-be are in for a treat with the spa’s special approach to pregnancy and babies’ first six weeks.

With the success of its first location in Tokyo, Mars opened this branch in West Hollywood to provide the same exquisite hair, nail, lash, and massage services. All hair-spa treatments are beautifully therapeutic and include a scalp, neck, and/or shoulder massage. What’s more, every treatment takes place in a private room, complete with a flat-screen TV, custom reclining chair, porcelain foot bath, and headphones, so you can really descend into another—calmer—realm during your session.
Any makeup artist can attest to the intensely (and instantly) flattering powers of abundant, fluttery, inky lashes. You walk out of Lash Bungalow looking a touch more awake and energized, and that’s because they’re experts at adding a beautiful, you-but-better, natural-looking flourish. Founder and master aesthetician Jill Scheid (who also heads her own Lash Academy, disseminating her brilliant technique) is an artist at extensions, lifts, and more, and the space itself is light-filled, airy—totally relaxing.
