Notting Hill Activities
Electric Cinema Kids Club
191 Portobello Rd., Notting Hill
Originally built in 1910, Electric Cinema is one of the oldest movie theatres in the UK: It's been running on and off since that time, but it caught our attention when it was leased to Soho House as part of their Electric House property. The Saturday night Kids Club shows a great selection of films for little ones, and kids love hanging out in the unusual leather sofa seating.
School at Summerill & Bishop
98 Portland Rd., Notting Hill
Summerill & Bishop, a gem of a home shop that's operated on the same hidden nook in Holland Park since the early 90's, has opened up a new extension next door named School. The new space is taken up by a gorgeous oak table, made especially for people to gather around and learn from an impressive roster of lifestyle gurus. The S&B team are busy bringing London's foremost experts on everything from calligraphy, to floristry, to nutrition, to housekeeping to come teach at school. Among the stanbys is a wonderful series of seasonal food prep classes led by local chef Marcelo de Campos.
