Long-time friends Claudio and Alessandro wanted to open a traditional Roman tavern in the Testaccio neighborhood and serve the food their grandmothers used to feed them. They have done exactly that. This restaurant is cozy and understated, and all the fresh produce is sourced at the nearby market—as local as it can come. The cooking is simple and traditional but just what you want with a glass of wine. Try their pici, and the gricia coi carciofi pasta with Rome’s favorite vegetable: the artichoke.
