Perfectly Cooked Brown Rice
The name says it all.
1 cup short-grain brown rice
1 3/4 cup water
1. Rinse or soak the brown rice before cooking.
2. Place the brown rice, water and a hearty pinch of salt in a large pot over high heat. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 45 minutes, until all the liquid is absorbed.
3. Turn off the heat, place a dry paper towel between the pot and the lid, and let sit for at least 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
The Spare Room is Hollywood’s newest addition to the bar scene. The parlor style bar inspired by old Hollywood features two refurbished bowling lanes and backgammon, along with old-timey drinks, like their Kentucky Glove Box, which is just in time for this year’s horse races.
