Nude Nail Perfection

It goes with everything, visually lengthens your fingers, hides chips…and it’s always always chic. “Nude represent clean modernism,” says Jin Soon Choi, founder of New York’s three Jin Soon Hand and Foot Spas. “Probably 50% of our clients are asking for nude nails right now.”

“Nail art gets all the attention, but the truth is, most people pick nudes,” agrees Tenoverten co-founder Adair Ilyinsky (she and co-owner Nadine Ferber now have four salons in New York and one in Austin, all of which emphasize clean mani-pedi products, from cleanser to creams to oils).

Picking the perfect nude depends on your skin tone, says Choi: “Transparent nude is good for pretty much every skin tone since it’s almost like a clear coat, but cream and beige nudes are particularly good for dark and medium skin tones. And pink-nude works really well for fair skin tones.”

“Our bestsellers are JINsoon Nostalgia, a rosy beige; Doux, a more opaque pink; and Muse, which is sheer pink.” (all, $18, jinsoon.com). The bestsellers from Tenoverten, Ilyinsky says, are Jane, a pale pink; Houston, which is pink-meet’s beige meets-apricot; and Mulberry, a gorgeous darker nude that verges on rust.
